The Goonies: Part of This Complete Breakfast

The 1st of 3 new pieces I have done for what I have dubbed the 3G Show. This show will be held at Gallery 1988 in LA and is made up of artists from the Autumn Society of Philly. The theme of the show is basically the tri-fecta of awesome 80's movies; The Goonies, Ghostbusters & Gremlins. The only 'rule' for the show was to create 3 separate pieces for each of the 3 movies. I decided to create retro faux cereal boxes for each of the 3 movies, (And yes, I am aware that all 3 of these movies had fun breakfast cereal tie-ins already, some with multiple ones... I'm looking at you Ghosbusters...) each with there own spin on it. One new technique I tried on all of them was photographing real cereal and then photoshopping them onto the boxes 'cause i thought that would be cool. Can anyone guess what I used for this cereal? I'll give you a hint... it's 2 different cereals. Give up!? I used Fruity Pebbles and Count Chocula marshmallows (photoshopped gold to look like doubloons). This was also awesome because I love cereal so it gave me an excuse to buy more then just my normal 1 box per food shopping trip!

ambitious, super fun, every character a total win, well done Ian!!!

this is super picky, but i'd crop that in a bit tighter, or rather, enlarge all that Goonie greatness!

PW-

The reason there is so much gutter space in the 'green bg' is because it's being made into a stretched canvas so i need extra bleed on the sides for the 'wrap-around' of the frame.

Chogrin-

Thanks for the advise.

what the heck happened to my comment?

anyways: great job, and power up points to joe for the detailed critque! i agree with what he's saying.

i read that you're doing these as canvas prints.
i think it would be really really rad if you actually built these to show, if the gallery will let you show on shelves or podiums.
if you're going to do package design: do it dude!
map these things out and build them.
you could still sell still prints, but i think you'd stand out in the crowd if you had these boxes built so people could pick em up and see em in 360 degrees.

Agreed Miranda, it would only add to it.

Miranda-

I was actually seriously considering doing actual boxes for all 3. I may do that later on, i just didn't have time to do the 3 boxes in time for the show. If I do them I will definitely post them!

Design the back and build the box! It would be sooooo much cooler!!!! Do iiittttttt!

You can totally rock all 3 for the show.

It's a great concept for a series. If you're gunna leave it half baked, don't even bother.

If you build it they will come!

I'll feel dumb if you posted the answer to this somewhere, but hey--I'm dumb! Any chance you'll make this available as a print? Thanks!
