I've been a fan of Ernie Cline for some time now (He's responsible for the screenplay to the super-funny FANBOYS movie and for a lot of awesome spoken-word poetry) this is my favorite piece of his Dance Monkeys Dance. So when 'READY PLAYER ONE' came out, his first novel, I couldn't wait to read it. And I did, and I loved it, I absolutely loved it. It's a very enjoyable sci-fi near-future distopian story by itself, but it's built on a bunch of 80s pop culture reference so if you were a kid or teenager during the 80s you'll get the most out of the book. I loved it so much I had to do some fan-art, so I did this poster and to make it a bit useful I used it to promote his reading in San Diego. Hope you like it, and really, read the book if you haven't, you won't regret it!

Yesterday I watched the new 'Avengers' trailer and I got so excited I just had to push out an emergency fan-art. I'm really looking forward to that movie.

My name is Carlos and I like drawing, and I'm just thrilled to have been invited to contribute to the blog and also being invited as a special guest to the Iconoclastic Dead show in Gurú. I'll be forever in debt to Jorsh, Chogrin and Germán for letting me be a part of these awesomeness.

So, to share something in my first post here, I want to show you a little something I did last week called 'Ancestral Knowledge'. It was a piece done for the 'Viernes de Ilustracion' artjam (Which started not as a copy of but as a homage and 'Tropicalization' of Illustration Friday but focused in the spanish speaking illustration community and giving the 'community' aspect a lot more importance, along with a very different dynamic.)... Anyways, the theme last month was 'Ancestral' and here's the piece I did, I hope you like it, and thanks a lot again!
