Un-Nerving Pencil!
I have done many small cartoons/illustrations for print before, but never have I been given a full two page spread to illustrate, until recently. This story, written by Jess Bergman, tells the tale of Harriet Cole. Harriet was a maid/washwoman in the late 1800's who donated her body to science. Dr. Rufus Weaver was, using her donated corpse, able to accurately separate her nervous system from the rest of her, for the first time ever. Back then it was a scientific miracle. These days, it is still on display, but is mostly seen as a creepy thing in a case.
A small portion of the comic was separated (much like her nervous system...ehhh folks?) for the cover.

MIKEY!

A-ha! Italian Market personality, possibly Philly legend Mikey Wild, folks! Although he recently passed, he lives on, and now is the subject of my most recent cover. It seems he was working on an amateur horror movie, where he portrayed Vincent Price, as well as Price's twin brother? Awesome.
Here's to you, sir! / See more stuffs on the creep channel.

This IS an Adventure
I was recently asked to contribute at Gallery 27, a new chicago gallery in the artistic Halsted area. What really sold me, was that Gallery 27's first show was "Futura", a Wes Anderson-themed (whose work I prize as favorites). So I present "This is an Adventure".
This is an early sketch for an idea I passed on. I want to thank Gallery 27 for an opportunity to have my FIRST show in Chicago!

HY GENE

The time, and strange interactions with street crime and hospitals, have passed by. Despite all this time, the earnest work and dedication to one of the coolest west coast art show interactions prevails. I present my piece for the Garbage Pail Kids show for Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles.
This piece, like all the rest in the show, is a version of an existing Garbage Pail Kid. In this case, the character is named "Hy Gene". Take a wild guess why.

New messes.

Here are a few new/old new personal pieces. They fit together, like a running narrative. I'll save that explanation for when the rest are done. All were done with my usual mix: acrylic, pencil, ink, crayon, colored pencil, accidental blood. You are excused.
