Ralph Bakshi: Surviving Tough Times

Ralph Bakshi is a veteran artist/animator who is best known for his animated features during the 70s-80s (New Adventures of Mighty Mouse,Felix the Cat, Heavy Traffic, American Pop).
Even if you don't enjoy his work his movies he ruled animation in the 70s and is one of the major force who pushed television animation away from the executive/corporation ruled stagnation to a creator/artist focus.

It's a good reminder that things arent always well in the big studios and that if you want something done you have to do things yourself.

I always find what Bakshi has to say interesting. Theres a fairly good newspaper interview as well, I'll post it if I can find it.

He's a very interesting character, and though I don't agree with his unlitigated sinicism towards the "lethargic, scared" youth, It's impossible to listen to him without feeling motivated. =)
