Greetings!

After being a member here for a little while now, I've gotten up the nerve to make my first post! It's really been a pleasure seeing everyone else's work here, and I'm so glad to be part of such a diverse and artistic melting pot!

These are a couple of quick pieces I did to practice some b&w line-work. It's a pretty different look for me, but lately I've been feeling kind of experimental. The first one was for promoting a show of my work a little while ago - I wound up silk screening it onto postcards... which was an adventure. The second one is based on a dream my boyfriend had a few days ago, and it fit so well with my previous piece that I decided to draw it out and pair them up.

Cheers!

I really like the cropping and composition of both these pieces, and the choice to keep them black and white. Good stuff, looking forward to seeing more.

both are great quiet pieces. the cards must have turned out great (how many did you end up printing?). and for being separate pieces they work really well together.

these turned out really nicely! i'm especially taken with the second one. i'd bet they looked great screen printed. i know the idea was to practice black and white linework, but have you considered trying a run of colored line on like a tea-stained paper? could look pretty amazing... anyway, looking forward to more from you!

Thanks for your comments, everyone!

Eamon: Thank you! I have a long standing love for odd cropping.

Tim: Thanks! I wound up making about 100 prints of these, but I have to say that it was kind of an awful process. It was my first time screen-printing and money was tight, so I decided to build my own screen from scratch (read: mistake). The whole process was somewhat improvised, but because of this there were some happy accidents along the way. The results were oddly pleasing!

Stabwell: If I ever try screen-printing again (which I will, with a real screen!), I'll totally try these in color... maybe a gradient.

Chogrin: Thanks! Glad to be here :)
