Hey guys, I recently got my first officially paid illustration job for Warlord CCG. These are two quick value sketches I did for the card I was assigned, no reference obviously, but yeah, just trying to see which one people like more. Thanks!
I'm not sure. I personally like the first study better, because the second feels a little too symmetrical. However, the position of the hand seems to be not interesting in the first, either. Hmmm. Overall it comes to simply just being a personal choice. The first-I believe, needs to be persued more.
this is a TOUGH one but i think the backlit pose on the bottom makes it seem like he is a much more powerful character. it's very much in the pose and gesture, but also the notion that the driving storm behind him is only going to charge everything upwards. it's a little more terrifying (to be on the opposing side)
I prefer the backlighting and pose in the second one for sure. i'm a big sucker for high contrast light though. and nice going on the getting the job! definitely post pictures of the printed card when you get it.

i'd have to go with the second one. much stronger body language makes for the more dramatic card.

First off congrats! Second I'd go with the bottom one for its more epic pose and feel.
