Lord of the Rings Sunday: Samwise the brave

"
Let him go, you filth. LET HIM GO!! You will not touch him again! Come on and finish it!" ~Samwise

So in case I didn't mention this before, over at Tor.com, there's a group of people having a Lord of the Rings re-read and I've been wanting to do portraits of the characters from the films, just something for myself really, but I was recently asked by one of Tor's designers, the awesome Pablo Defendini, if I'd want to post up my pictures along with the re-read blog posts. Of course I said yes, I think it'd be a lot of fun to see what people think about my drawings while I get to read their interpretations of the stories along with their experiences of the books. It was a nice coincidence that this all happened about the same time, two other artists are doing similar posts right now, Eric Orchard and Justin Gerard. Eric claims on his blog that he's just going to be doing doodles, but knowing him, he'll probably give in and do a full scale drawing (or at least I'm hoping he does after I saw a little Hobbit sketch he drew up recently). Justin is doing these amazing Hobbit pieces and posting in progress photos over on his blog, they're definitely worth checking out.

Next week: Gandalf the Grey

Right on! Sam is my favorite, and this one of my favorite moments in the trilogy!
