"I don't want to grow up..."

I wanted to see if I could get a critique of this piece from the group. I have had this piece laying around for one or two months now and I am not sure if it goes well with the rest of my portfolio just yet.

The piece is about an article I read on how the author still acted like a child (watching saturday morning cartoons, stay up late, wears an elephant costume to work), but still embraced things that came with being an adult (beer, sex, bills, ect).

I think it's pretty. Do you know the Tom Waits song, "I Don't Wanna Grow Up"? Great song.

My initial reaction was that there's too much open space in the upper left, compositionally I thought it was a little awkward but the more I look at it the more I like it. I think the lack of texture in the yellow makes it different from the piecess you have posted on your portfolio, which is very cool by the way.

i don't think I would recommend the addition. It's difficult to tell what concept is behind the work, even when you know what the context is. I'm not sure how the rabbit-shadow idea relates to the article you described. And since the image itself isn't a strong stand alone picture, it might be best to just keep your book with the strongest work, and leave out the fence sitters.

it's a noble paradoxical statement, and a wonderful way to capture such a difficult idea. i totally identify with you buddy

I would say that the image is a little confusing, although in terms of color choice and composition I am kind of liking it. The concept is just a little confusing, I am not 100% sure on what the purse has to do with adulthood, or at the very least when I look at the image I don't connect with the fact that it represents being an adult. and then the rabbit out of the hat makes me think of magicians, which aren't necessarily just for kids. It's a tough concept and an interesting image, bu it might raise too many questions. Also i wasn't sure about the length of the shadow.
