"...save me, from this darkness..." *
the world does not need another Johnny Cash portrait, and sometimes, perhaps in the case of film and fans in recent years, it would be a more fitting tribute to pay no homage at all. Cash, like many of the great songwriters, left music that will speak for itself and last the test of time; in a way that artists (and certainly, sadly, illustrators) rarely ever come close to achieving.
i wanted to pay more homage to June Carter though, a member of the gifted Carter Family, and how if there are ever great women behind great men, she was his saving grace the whole time
thanks for looking

Quite a touching piece. I can relate to it a lot. Keep em' coming brother!
Peter, this is a really nice piece. There's definitely love in it - the expressions are totally what they need to be and no more. There's so much warmth. Really great job, buddy.
Missin' ya at the Morrisville Zoo.
Awesome, dude, I love the war of the worlds blood vessels from hell
Beautifully amazing! Bravo!
This is awesome, It almost gives a feeling that she's his guardian angel. Which in a way was sorta true...
Peter! This is pretty cool. I don't dude, Johnny Cash portraits don't get old to me and if its fitting why not do it. Its when you start doing illustrations of the Fonz, when I start to think doing it as an illustration seems dated or question why its being done other than for comic humour.
None the less, this is a great portrait of the two. I wish I knew how you did the background because its pretty dope.
