for those not in the know stardust was created by fletcher hanks in the very first years comics were being published, then he mysteriously vanished from comics in the early forties.
stardust is known for being almost an art brut comic since fletcher seemed to have no art training or any reference for drawings and seemed to draw straight from his head. he was a relative unknown for years until fantagraphics released the complete works of fletcher hanks about a year ago.

This is really awesome, Ive been wanting to check these out, now i might have to. Your piece really captures the spirit of the comics well.
My first book collecting Hanks' work, "I Shall Destroy All the Civilized Planets!" won an Eisner Award and is in its 4th printing. A second collection, "You Shall Die By Your Own Evil Creation!" will be in bookstores any day now. Together the two books comprise the Complete Fletcher Hanks, the artist whom R.Crumb called, "a twisted dude".
