I put a ton of effort into this week's Illustration Friday! topic, 'Flying.' Figured I could let you guys take a peek at the final product! The process is in a few steps on my blog here if you're interested. Enjoy!
I'm really feeling this piece, Kim. The smoke is beautifully rendered, and I really like the somewhat asian-calligraphic design to the smoke as well. This is such a terrifying moment, yet the image itself seems so quiet and composed, time has stopped, and even though he is crashing and burning, and hes splayed as he falls, its magical. I feel compelled by the flight, but that ground looming in the background snaps you out of it.
Haha- sorry if this comment is a little all over the place. I'm really in love with this piece, great job! Keep em coming!!!!!

Wow! The depth of field and dynamic perspective is breath taking. I love this piece.
I really enjoy the smoke and flames as well as the design time put into the mechanics of the wings.
your artwork is out of control lately! another amazing piece, congrats!
The layered smoke is amazing! Everything about this piece is just breathtaking.
this is clearly a really kickass piece, but my absolute favorite part is how the linework in the smoke fades from red to grey. so so slick.
