Lately I've been obsessed with Douglas Adams. So to help get it out of my system, I did a painting from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which is one of my favorite books of all time. If you haven't read the series yet, you should. Also check out his Dirk Gently series. It's only two books, but also amazing.

dude, totally agree with what ζδΊε said...
Drew, this such a strong image! i am unfamiliar with the content of the books, so this holds a little more majesty and mystery for me
it's like you have 2 exploratory weather balloons tethered and anchored through a portal into the foggy worlds of edgy darkness and ridiculous cartooning. meanwhile, though those doors are open, you're working on something else and larger than the sum of those small two touches, and doing something really special.
though your drawings are always a treat, and your painting of the main things flawless, your backgrounds and environments in the last year have been beyond astounding. i am so glad that your negative space, or rather (and uniquely) your enveloping or encompassing space has take a role that is not dominant so much as it is equal to the focus. it's a heck of a polarizing balance, not to mention that THE PAINTING OF THE SKY HERE IS AMAZING !!!! depth, light, drama, majesty, importance, wonder and awe like an old masterwork.
tasteful minimal splatter from the bowl as well, bravo
Peter,
Wow, you are too kind. I'm blushing. Thank you. Your opinion means a lot to me.
the whale is fantastic! great gesture and sense of falling.
I've been looking for the perfect hitchhikers guide tattoo, and this painting is perfect, that is, if you would agree? I will send you a picture if I ever end up doing it.
