Children's Book :D

Hey Everyone,

Sorry I've been MIA from the blog for so long (I'm sure you all have been wondering where I am/noticed I was gone) I was working on a book for a small publishing company called Halo.
Halo skirts the border between self publishing and retail publication. Illustrators work very closely with authors and have extremely tight deadlines. I had 8 weeks to illustrate an entire book-- 14 full color illustrations-- while also working full time at my day job. But, the author I worked with was really wonderful and I did what I had to do to make it happen. I also made an incredibly stupid oversight concerning dimensions, so I can't stress to everyone enough how important it is to double check specs. Everything worked out ok, but there was almost a technical disaster on my account.

Anyway it's going to press now, and I can't wait to see it in print! It's about the relationship between a mother and son, and is really very sweet. The biggest challenge for me was creating visual interest page after page, as there is very little descriptive action in the copy. Here are a few of my favorite images from the book, 'I Love You Three Dots" (awwwwwwww!!!)

2009 Holiday Color Book

Hot off the presses bringing some holiday cheer to the children of your local communities. This coloring book is collected drawings from members of the Autumn Society. What made the book extra special was that it was distributed to local childcare centers in Southern New Jersey and in Philadelphia. With a goal of hoping to spread some holiday cheer to those less fortunate in our local communities.

Thanks to Maryann Held for her cover art contributions and a special thanks to all contributed in making this project and gift to our community possible. Below are some photos of the coloring book and its interior art.

Shiver Me Timbers

Hey Yall!

it's been a while but here's a new piece. This is been floating around in the old brain for quite a while, and I finally had some free time to do it. This is pretty much how I saw in in my head, except for the mappy background, which I came up with off the top. Hope you like her. Oh, btw this piece features a first in my pin up series-- nipple! Had to happen sooner or later. ENJOY!

cuteness comes in threes.

Here's some more video game stuff in the mix. Had to do some pieces for my favorite game of all time, Sonic the Hedgehog 3. So here are the three main characters in my three most favorite levels. Ice cap zone, angel island zone, and marble garden zone.

Also Pictured: Invisible Plane

Hey!

I thought I'd get an early start on the Golden Age Show. I decided to keep it short and sweet and just do a pinup of Wonder Woman. I don't particularly care about Wonder Woman, if we're being honest, but she is a powerful image who a lot of people dig, and I think this painting could potentially be pretty cool. Thoughts/comments/suggestions appreciated!

Day Job

Hey guys and gals. Here's a little something I did at my bill paying job at Mixed Up Mosaics in NYC. That's pretty much it. A squirrel made of glass num nummin on acorns. Enjoy!

Sneak Peak 80's style

Hey all. I don't usually show my preliminary steps or process... for no other reason than I don't really think to. But I thought I'd show my final drawings for my 80's piece. There was no question in my mind what my painting was gonna be about. I love Prince. For serious. So here he is playing the white cloud and looking great Purple Rain style with two of his main gals from the 80's: Cat, an amazing dancer with boundless energy and charisma; and the super sexy and even more super talented drummer, Sheila E. Hope y'all like them so far!

Mona's Daydream

I decided to begin re-doing some of the paintings I did during my independent study with my teacher, Tom Leonard, a few years back. I like what we did together SO much, but most of what we did just isn't up to par painting-wise anymore. So here's my first re-vamp, and it's of the first painting I did of Mona Dubois, a curious little French girl who has a somewhat bizarre fixation on Marcel Duchamp. In this one, she's writing her first letter to him, detailing some of her favorite things including her cat, Pinot. LE FUN!!!
