Good Morning, Mr. Breakfast.

Hey there. Here's my contribution to Pee-Wee. I must say that I don't have a fantastic memory for things that happened prior to about 2 or 3 years ago, but I clearly remember sitting in a completely packed theater on opening night of Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985). The audience cheered and laughed so hard at every joke that night that a second viewing was required to absorb all the plot intricacies and existential humour ("I know you are, but what am I?") that shaped this work of genius.

More than meets the eye...

Robots in disguise...
These are my pieces for the upcoming Autumn Society 80's toy themed show at Brave New Worlds Comics in Philly. The 80's was a glorious decade for toys, It was a time when parents would get into fist fights at 6 in the morning, freezing outside a Kiddie City a week before Christmas so they could grab a preemie Cabbage Patch Kid or a Soundwave Transformer for their little girl or boy, and Santa would get all the credit. I loved my Star Wars and GI Joe toys, but Transformers was awesome & let's face it, Gobots sucked.

BTTF2 HOVERBOARD BY NILS GUADAGNIN

"The Hoverboard is a project made by Nils guadagnin, a young french artist. This work is born in 2008 for an exhibition named "Back To the future".
It is a copy of the hoverboard from the movie Back to the Future II. Integrated into the board and the plinth is an electromagnetic system which levitates the board. A laser system stabilises the object in the air.
In the making of this work, this artist was thinking about different ways of presenting sculpture. In fact it's a reflexion on the multiple possibilities of how to give a sculpture full spatial autonomy."

Tonight: FEEL THE POWER!

Over 100 artists, including the Autumn Society's Chogrin, Tom Whalen, Jude Buffum, Danielle Rizzolo, and Dave Perillo. Premieres tonight!

Masters of the Universe

Shown above is my piece for Gallery 1988’s upcoming “Under the Influence: Masters of the Universe” show. Titled “Battle Bones”, it is a giclee print on canvas edition of 20, and 1/20 will come in this green hand-painted frame.
As a product of the eighties, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe was a big part of my childhood, so I was super excited to be a part of this show. One thing I love about the characters is that they are so iconic and colorful that they can be reduced to very few pixels and still read.

Epic Battle Cat!

Mac Tonight

Doug Jones
is the actor that Hollywood turns to when they have a part that requires a lot of makeup. His recent notable roles include the creatures in Pan's Labyrinth, Abe Sapien in Hellboy, and The Silver Surfer in Fantastic 4.

A piece of trivia I knew about Doug was that he also played Mac Tonight in the McDonald's commercials of the 80's (I'm a big advertising mascot nerd.) So seeing as how the character is fairly obscure compared to his more recent roles, I thought it would be funny to create this piece and get him to sign it at a convention I attended earlier this month.

The piece really caught him off guard and he loved it. He also asked that I send it to his website, where it was posted earlier this week.

UPDATE: Here's a video!

80s Pop Show Photos

Here are some photos from the 80's Pop Show Gallery by the Autumn Society at Brave New Worlds. I've been trying to experiment with wood lately to make my digital art, not so digital. Don't know where its going yet, but I'm liking the results.
