Mega Man NES Clock

One of my latest illustrations is a tribute to an NES fave - Mega Man!
The cool news is that they've been made into NES cartridge clocks.
There's only 10 made and so far half have sold.
If anyones interested you can grab one for 40$ at Level Cap Clothing

Or if you'd like a print - I'm selling those too (just email me at Makibas@gmail.com) for 25$ + shipping and handling. They're 13x19 giclee prints unframed.

8-Bit Terrariums

Game Over IV is an upcoming show at Giant Robot San Francisco that pays homage to the continuous evolution of videogames and their massive influence on popular culture. The impact and inspiration of videogames will be represented through a wide assortment of styles and genres provided by top artists in the fields of illustration, painting, sewing, indie comics, and videogames. Some of my favorite artists are among those to be featured, including Jeffrey Brown, David Horvath, and Matt Furie. Also, fellow Autumn Society member Hilary Florido created a badass Tetris piece for the show. (Sorry if there are any other TAS members in the show, I'm really bad with keeping track of everyone here!)

For my contribution to the exhibition, I created this series of 8-bit terrariums. I am actually a bit of a terrarium enthusiast myself, so this idea sort of evolved naturally from that interest. I actually see a lot of similarities between video games and terrariums; they are both closed systems that seek to nurture and sustain an entire world within a small viewing space. And I get equal enjoyment out of interacting and watching both.

Prints can be purchase from my shop, and at the gallery.

8-BIT CALAVERA SHOW

"MUERTO PERO NO OLVIDADO"
by Matthew "matK" Kerfren

Hi everyone! This is a mixed media piece of sculpture, acrylic, pencil, tech pen and dirt (yes, dirt). I was nervous about taking on this project, but ended up really enjoying it and I am sad to see it go. A nice little unplanned side effect of the dirt mounds happened - it's stands on it's on with a built in base - it's a nice plus for display options if anyone buys it at the show.

I've really enjoyed seeing everyone's pieces so far on the blog with all the different styles. I look fwd to seeing them all together for the bigger, final skull presentation. Thanks Joe for setting this up with Ground Kontrol, it was a blast!

GOONIES II

Just for the record, there was a Goonies II....sort of.  The 1987 NES games involved the return of the Fratellis, a mermaid, and other adventures! Can't wait for the 3G Show premiere tomorrow!

8-Bit Dr. Horrible (Act 1) is done!

I finished the first of three acts tonight so you can watch a high-quality Flash version on site or check out the video on YouTube. I can't say for sure when the next two acts will be finished but I will be working on them a lot so expect something within the next few weeks or so.

If you haven't heard anything about this project yet, it's an 8-bit re-creation of the online musical "Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog". Check out the links above to see it now!
