Mr. Manager

Arrested Development fans UNITE!!!

I was thrilled to be asked to be a part of Gallery 1988's Arrested Development tribute show titled "There's Always Money in the Banana Stand. I missed this show when it was on tv. I recently caught up with every single episode thru Netflix in preperation for this show. It's by far one of the funniest tv comedies I've ever seen. It's right up there with Seinfeld in my opinion. If you're in the LA area and can make it to the show stop out I'm sure it will be quite fun. Send me a pic if you can!

Star Trek

I'm pretty thrilled to announce that Ltd. Gallery in Seattle has invited me to 4 shows throught the rest of 2012. The first show I'm participating in is a tribute to Robots and Rayguns - A Classic Sci-Fi Show & opens on June 13th. For this show, I went with Star Trek and their phasers. I almost illustrated a classic 60's Vision from the Avengers but worried it wouldnt connect with most. I also played around with the idea of a Illudium Q-36 Space Modulator for those of you that knew me in the late 90's you'd understand. I also thought about the T-600, which fit into the theme timeline guidelines but it didn't feel retro enough for me. So Trek it is - hope you enjoy.
Signed and numbered prints of this will be available when the show opens June 13th thru Ltd. Gallery
This release will be an exclusive small batch of 20 + the few extras AP's I have on-hand.

Conan O' Brien "Be Cool My Babies!"

My next piece for the upcoming Gallery 1988 Is This Thing On? 2 show. A celebration to stand up comedians with  special emcee that evening, Weird Al Yankovic. I couldn't be more thrilled with the release of this new print.
I have religiously DVR'd and watched every episode of Conan O'Brien for something close to 8 years now.
I thought it might be fun to do a piece for this show that touched on his recent Banned From TV Comedy Tour without actually calling it out like that. I hope Conan finds I captured his paleness to perfection.

Donkey Kong

Donkey Kong, my next show piece with Gallery 1988 Venice for the Old School Video Game Show!

I picked Kong because it literally was the first video game I ever played as a kid. Years before Nintendo, my dad bought me a Colecovision, you know the one with the paddles? At the time it was considered the generic Atari. Kong was the first game I ever received. So for me Donkey Kong is about as "old school" as I could ever get.

This show is going to be insane and overflowing with talent and this show will be especially fun because I'll be joined with a few of my fellow PLANET-PULP mates and Autumn Society Alumns. Joining me will be Tom Whalen, Scott Derby and Dave Perillo along with fellow Pulper Stan Chow

Join us September 16th
214 Pier Ave.
Santa Monica, CA 90405

You can buy this print on the Gallery1988 website a day or two after the show starts providing they don't sell out, in which case I'll be selling the remaining artist proofs I have, just email me.

Mars Canyons with Captain Future!

Hi, I am a new member to this here site, so here is my first post!

I finished an image last night for Planet Pulp. The theme was 'fictional travel posters', so I did one based on the comic character Captain Future. This image imagines he is now semi retired and promoting tour holidays around the solar system.

Hope you like it! If you do then please check out my blog at jamesgilleard.blogspot.com
