The Real Ghostbusters

A new shirt design that you can vote on now over at Splitreason!

As a kid I always wondered why they changed certain aspects of the Ghostbusters appearance for the cartoon. Especially since they did a good job of linking the continuity of the two versions; even going so far as to explain why they kept Slimer around and changed their uniform colors. My little child brain couldn't decide if the Busters in the cartoon were really meant to be the ones from the movies or not. So this drawing is my idea of what it would look like if you combined the two.

Please Post Bills

For Gallery 1988‘s upcoming exhibition “Please Post Bills”, dedicated to comedic legend Bill Murray, I chose to do a companion piece to my Ghostbuster’s piece from “The 3G Show”. My piece, Ugly Little Spud, depicts the scene when Murray’s character, Peter Venkman, comes face to face with his first Class 5 Free-Roaming Vapor, better known as Slimer.

I'm going to get him a nice fruit basket...

toddtogo.tumblr.com / 11"x14", acrylic on canvas

The Walter Peck dartboard by the Ghostbusters. Note each dart bares an initial from each of the ghostbusters, Janine included and is also the color of their jumpsuits (or in Janine's case, pink wardrobe) from The Real Ghostbusters animated series. The wall was modeled after the basement holding the containment unit. I hope you guys dig it!

Happy Turkey Day!

Mark it zero!!! Thought this was an appropriate post for today since a "Turkey" is a bowling term when one gets 3 strikes in a row. Anywho, did this piece as commission for a big fan of the "Big Lebowski". A great, great film, one of my favs.
Also, Gallery 1988 is having a Black Friday sale tomorrow 11/26, it's 30% off original artwork and 20% off prints including a second edition of my sold out 3G show prints in a spiffy new color scheme. Click the link to check all of my prints they'll have available...G1988/Dave Perillo Prints

t-shirts

I was recently asked by folks at shirthack.com to do a Star Wars t-shirt design for them, they are a new company and they will be launching hopefully later this week.

Needless to say I was really excited, who doesn't want to do a Star Wars drawing? Seriously, there is probably something wrong with you if you don't want to. Anyway, they asked me to do something with Darth Vader, which sounded pretty good to me, but the problem was that as I started brainstorming all the ideas I came up with would make nice prints and be a blast to make, but would not be something that I would ever wear on a shirt. So the challenge became, what kind of Star Wars shirt would I actually wear? In the end it turned out I wanted something subtle and here it is.

There is also a chance that my Coffee Break image that I did for the 3G show may end up on a shirt as well, but still working on how to turn it into a shirt design. I will post something on my blog or maybe here again as soon as they are available for purchase, in the mean time hold your horses.

Have a good one

The Whole Gang

It occurs to me that this would be pretty funny to post with no explanation or context, but I guess I'll tell you anyway! It's my latest piece for Front Magazine, this one for an article about putting together the perfect stereotypical gang.

We have Peter Venkman as the ladies man, Donatello as the brains, Chewbacca as the muscle, Screech as the wild card, Dobby as the mascot, and the A-Team van as the vehicle.

I really like Chewbacca in the wrestling getup. Sadly I can't claim credit for that as it was in the commission description, though it was my idea to give Screech a child's toy guitar. I'm not too fond of Dobby or anything Harry Potter related, but neither are the people at Front as they told me to make him look "hateable," haha!

3G festivity..

So, I just got back from a short trip back to my hometown near Detroit, MI and I've found quite a rush of press and love for the three G show....Pretty awesome!...
If you where at the show I hope you had an awesome west coast evening. But, if you're like me you didn't make it and don't have too many ways to know the who's who of art in the show....

So here are my artworks in case you missed the L.A. art Bonanza...

Hope you dig, Comments always appreciated....
