Hey guys, just wanted to show you my submission to Gallery 1988's upcoming show that opens this Friday, "Is this thing on? 2: The Weird Year" The show is being hosted by Weird Al! Pretty crazy, I'm honored to be a part of this show and from what I've been hearing, the pieces at this one are pretty damn fantastic. Hope you guys dig my Louis CK piece, he's a brilliant comedian and his jokes are just so damn good. I had so much material to choose from, but of course, I had to go with one of my favorites.

The Walter Peck dartboard by the Ghostbusters. Note each dart bares an initial from each of the ghostbusters, Janine included and is also the color of their jumpsuits (or in Janine's case, pink wardrobe) from The Real Ghostbusters animated series. The wall was modeled after the basement holding the containment unit. I hope you guys dig it!

Dia De Los Gorey

This is my piece for the upcoming Iconoclastic show in Mexico! I chose to portray Edward Gorey for this show. He is a master of illustration, subtle humor and absurd storytelling. It was a great challenge to mix my style with Gorey's and incorporate the Dia de los Muertos style as well.

I've recently been commissioned to do a portrait of someone's child.  I could do whatever I want with it, so I wanted to illustrate how kids are sometimes smarter than adults.  Owls are often called "wise", so I decided to add it to the piece.

The People We Know

Hey Philly people! I have four brand new paintings being featured in a group show of portraits this weekend at B2 in South Philadelphia. The show includes photographer Ryann Casey, and painters Bonsky, Jason Andrew Turner, and myself and will be up for the month of December. Reception is this Saturday December 11th from 6 to 8pm. 3G Pieces: Victorian Style!

Here are my pieces for the upcoming 3G show at Gallery 1988!! I've been a huge fan of the shows and artists that G1988 represents, so I'm really psyched to be a part of this show with the Autumn Society.

These were super fun to make; I was very inspired by old Victorian portraits of children with their pets & dolls, and was thinking about the iconic elements of all three movies that would pair well with children/young adults.  And people who know my art know I love drawing/painting ladies and animals, so this was a way to marry the theme with my style.

I wanted to also make them very somber and ornate, like small Victorian cameos, hence the framing technique.

For a while now, I've been wanting to try to paint a Master copy of an old painting. I never decided on one until now, for the show, I used it as an excuse to do a portrait of George Washington, but the great portrait painter Gilbert Stuart, known famously for his unfinished portrait of George Washington, but still a fantastic portraitist nonetheless. It was an incredible learning experience for me and I'm looking forward to my next Master copy, perhaps a Rembrandt.... or Rubens...

Anyway, hope you guys like it!

Remembering Stella

Hey I just finished this portrait of Stella, she departed earth in 2005 and I was honored to help carry on her memory through a painting that embodies her likeness. The portrait itself was very fun, and the baroque framework is something i've always wanted to paint and it was really cool to apply it to a sentimental portrait.

I've noticed lately that I've really been getting into portraits. I've always had an interest with them, but lately, it's been heightened. For the past few months, I've been brainstorming some ideas for upcoming personal works and have decided to pursue a solo show. This show won't consist mostly of work I've already done, but instead, new pieces focused in portraiture. I'll go into more detail later about what I intend on doing specifically with my portraits, but until then, here's a sketch for one of my latest commissions, so far the sketch is only after one sitting, but I'm happy with where it's at so far.

Creative Quarterly 17!!!

Hey I just got an email from creative quarterly that said I got in!! So I thought I would share the piece that they chose. It's a portrait of British actor Ben Whishaw who's role in the movie "Perfume: The Story of a Murderer" inspired me to do a portrait. The movie is awesome and if you haven't seen it then you should treat yourself and watch it.....Since it's Autumn I decided to a simple portrait of him blending in to his surroundings. I hope you enjoy and keep an eye out for the creative quarterly 17. I'm excited!!

Ejordanill x Elvis

Piece "down with the king" done to show the power a particular lifestyle and influence can have a person. it is said that Elvis, otherwise known as the king, died from an overdose of sleeping pills among other things. this piece was made to translate his downfall. "kings lose crowns, teachers stay intelligent." -krs one. thanks joe
