"Bottom of the Ink Well" book is finished!

So after a few days worth of scanning and sorting through old crap and using blurb.com's awesome book layout program, I present to you:

"Bottom of the Inkwell"

52 pages of sketches, largely drawn at Bob and Barbras and assorted philly bars. The drawings are from 2007 to 2009 and include failed attempts for PCS Book III, images used in Parade of Flesh show posters, preliminary work for a few unfinished projects, and some personal work. * Zines, Themes, Zines *

With so many themes and ideas to draw, I've decided to collect some ideas specifically in Zine (small book (5.5" X 8.5")) format. With that said these themes don't have any final deadlines yet, I basically want to see how many would contribute to each. If we could have about 20 entries in each, we would have a solid book to put out for limited release. These are the themes:

1. Classic Marvel & DC Comics Characters - Marvel and DC characters as the way they first appeared in comics. Example: Captain America, Iron-man, Spider-man, Wolverine, Green Lantern, Superman, Wonderwoman, Batman, etc...

2. Golden Age Animated Cartoons - Anything from the 1900's to the 1940's. Some examples are: Mickey Mouse, Bosko, Betty Boop, Koko the clown, Popeye, Gertie the Dinosaur, Little Nemo, Flip the Frog, Willie Whopper, Silly Symphonies, Merrie Melodies, etc...

3. ANIME (Japanese Animation) Characters - Anything from Astro Boy, to Dragon Ball Z, to Death Note.

4. 80's Animated Cartoon Characters - Any cartoon that you grew up with in the 80's. Examples: Ninja Turtles, Ghostbusters, Camp Candy, Centurions, Dinosaucers, Dino Riders, Thundercats, He-Man, GI Joe, Transformers, etc...


5. Video Game Characters - (1970's to now) Anything goes from Pong, To Mario Bros, to Left 4 Dead.

These zines are obviously very character based, so its a bit limited, but I know some of you will rise to the challenge to draw your own versions of your favorite characters from these different periods and themes.

PCS Watchmen tribute book

Not sure who all on here is participating in the Philadelphia Cartoonist Society Watchmen tribute book Chris Patchell and myself are putting together, just posting a reminder that all artwork is due this coming Friday Sept 5th. We are planning a big in-store signing at the comic shop in Olde City, Brave New Worlds, on 2nd Street (between Market & Arch) on the First Friday October 3rd!

Artwork must be either black & white or grayscale, 5.5"w x 8.5"h and 300dpi. Here's a sneak peak of the cover...

* Autumn Society ( Volume 2 ) *

So as I promised, here are the guidelines for "The Autumn Society, Vol. 2" book, which will be distributed at events and to anyone interested. Most importantly this will be the main book I'll be showcasing at the Baltimore Comic Con (September 27 & 28). So if you wanna be in it, act fast! There's about 20 pages to fill (first come, first serve basis).

Main Guidelines:

1. One Page Per Person
2. Grayscale format
3. Page should include artwork that best represents you. (NOTE: No new artwork is required for this. And if all work is in color, just convert to Grayscale).
4. Page should also include your contact or the best way for a client to reach you. E-mail, phone #, etc...

* Baltimore Comic Con 08 *

Alright boys and girls, it's that time of the year again...Baltimore Comic Con is near, so get your sketches, doodles, finished artwork, or whatever you may have ready to show, sell, or give out at this great event. If you go to the Con's site, you'll see "The Autumn Society" is already listed under the Artist Alley section.
