Wilting away

Amy Winehouse; wilting away and lifeless as doctors tell her that if she continues to smoke crack, not only will her mild emphysema (she got from smoking crack) get worse, but she could end up dying. This was in the news this summer about the British super star.

I did this as one of my summer spots for Joe at U of A, and I am posting this because it's one of my favorite I have done.

Enjoy.

the colors in her are great as is the texture in her hair. i think you should rethink the yellow outline of the rose. it kinda vibrates a little and turns a quiet sad image into a kind of distraction.

What a great piece. THe expression in her eyes, the textures and colors! Well done!

I agree with Tim in that the rose should probably get toned down so it blends in with the rest of the piece. Unless you meant to stick out like that, which also works out great. Either way, I would love to a series of portraits executed this way!

Thanks for the comments guys. I will re-invest time into the color of the line, so that this becomes a nice portfolio piece.

Hey nice work, I agree with what the other guys said about the rose, other than that I think it turned out really nice. You've got some subtle textures going on, I like it.

I think like the likeness could have been drawn better. Amy Winehouse doesn't have weird flaring nostrils. And her lips are actually pretty big. The colors beside the rose are nice though.
