sigh.....but "for now"...more battles ahead I'm afraid.
This doesnt means that we shouldnt stop campaigning against the very people trying to push for this bill.
agreed. i didn't want to speak too soon on the issue, but frankly any good news on this is cause to celebrate. and yes, we should all continue to raise awareness of the issue and campaign to stop this super villainous law- which offends copyright law of every other nation on earth.
Thanks for the update Tim!
yes, as we can see from the ophan acts bill and the whole bailout situation, we need to get ALOT of people out of the Senate and House. still, great news for now. as ling as we continue to be pro-active, we'll win all these battles!
Thanks for the update, man. Great news indeed, it's good to know that all the emails, the phone calls and letters actually worked. But yes, let's keep this issue on a close watch, it may be done for now, but it's a sneaky little bastard who shouldn't be left alone to cause any damage in the future.
A wise word on the continuing update on the Orphan Works Act:
"The Orphan Works Bill isn’t dead at all. It won’t be dead until it’s voted down completely.
Notice who told Threat Alert that it’s a dead deal. Not a congressman, not a congressional aide. But a lobbist. Lobbists? Are you kidding me? Those guys could assure me that the moon is made of green cheese and tomorrow it will start raining solid gold kittens and I would believe those assurances more than them telling me that they know what is going on with legislation. Notice also that TA didn’t say who the lobbists were working for. Are they working for the artists’ rights groups or the corporations? This is important information, don’t you think?
Write your congressperson. Tell them that the measure needs to be defeated. Don’t quit just because someone who is paid to talk to politicians has said it’s safe. That’s like standing in the eye of a hurricane and saying, “Wow, I’m glad that storm is over. Okay, back to normal!”"
Agreed- write your congress person.
