Spot for the Indypendent

4x6", red pencil and digital

Hey guys. I got the chance to work with the Indypendent on an article called Obama and Executive Power. The main point was that Obama is taking on an office that has seen a vast expansion of its powers and asked how he will handle it- whether to use them or return the executive branch to its former status. It was a quick little job that was fun to do, so here's hoping I get another chance to do so.

finish turned out great, tim. the texture in the backgroud is really cool, and that glow is perfect. i think you went with the right sketch, but i quite like the close up of hands and crown.

Next month I plan on emailing them a pdf portfolio, in hopes I can work with them, since its a free publication and illustrators don't get paid by them but they give you printed work samples in print and pdf tear sheets as well.

Love the piece! I especially love the brush strokes in the background which makes it feel less digital.

nice piece, the tone conveys the apprehensive mood very well. Will he use this power, will he not, it all comes across.

oh snap, dude i didn't even notice the finished piece above, i was looking at the thumbs! :X

digging that glow effect and the brush strokes on the background, it's a nice touch. the graphic outline of the suit is nice too, compliments the face nicely.
