Watch that last step..

11.75x12", graphite/digital

Hey guys. Just wanted to share a cover image I did for the Indypendent. It's been a while since I've done a piece for them, but it's hard to turn down the chance for a cover. The main focus in this issue is disillusionment with Obama's first year in office. They approached me looking for a Messianic portrayal of Obama, but a faulty one. I gave them a few options, but they went with Sketch 3 and asked me to make it a bit more dynamic. In any case, looking forward to seeing the piece in print. Enjoy!

This is also a great moment for us Illustrators, Graphic Designers, and artists in general. Why you ask? Well simply because the amazingly talented Shepard Fairey has made art and US history with his Obama posters. Recently his famous "Hope" poster was acquired by the US National Portrait Gallery, and became part of the permanent collection. It was unveiled and put on display at the Gallery three days ago(January 17, 2009).

Here are some great videos including an interview of Shepard on the Colbert Report.

Enjoy and get inspired!

Viva Obama!

Art by Shepard Fairey

What an emotional and inspirational day this has been! It has inspired me even more to meet my goals and dreams as a person and an artist.

With that said, I just want to say that we've come long ways with this blog, and I hope we can reach new levels this year. Challenging ourselves, helping each other, and really uniting to make a message and our art come across as inspirational, united, and moving.

I look forward to future galleries, zines, events, and projects with all of you. As a blog and group, I hope we can reflect in our own ways the ideals and feelings of this historical positive movement of hope and change.

Viva Obama!

In honor of tomorrow's inauguration

I did this illustration back in November for the Presidential Election. On my blog I held a little contest of sorts where you could "vote" in the Illustration Election for the illustration that you liked the best. There was a great response and it was a whole heck of a lot of fun. I hope to have some other kind of illustration related contest or event on my blog soon. (putting the thinking cap on) Anyway, I thought that this is a happy piece and quite appropriate to celebrate tomorrow's inauguration. Enjoy!

Spot for the Indypendent

4x6", red pencil and digital

Hey guys. I got the chance to work with the Indypendent on an article called Obama and Executive Power. The main point was that Obama is taking on an office that has seen a vast expansion of its powers and asked how he will handle it- whether to use them or return the executive branch to its former status. It was a quick little job that was fun to do, so here's hoping I get another chance to do so.
