I will be having a solo exhibition of my illustration work coming up in September at
Proximity Gallery. Proximity is one of the hottest (if not
THE hottest) new Philly galleries that has sprung up over the past year and a half. It's a fantastic little gallery space located in Fishtown and they always show wonderful work. I'm honored and excited to have been asked to do my own show there and am diligently producing new work for it. With the economy being slow,so is freelance, and I plan on taking advantage of all of this recent downtime by creating creating and creating! Trying to turn some lemons into lemonade, you know?
Below, is a sneak peek of one of my new pieces. Since it was too big to scan, I had to shoot it outside with the camera, so it's not the best picture. There are some scanned crops that you can see for detail. I'm really happy with the way that it turned out and excited to move onto the next. It's gonna be a heck of a show. Enjoy!

wow, this is awesome stuff. i know this is probably going to sound a little stupid, but one of the coolest things to me reading this post was how wonderfuly your details were cropped, like they were strong wonderful pieces on their own as well. as i scrolled down all three there was a really wonderful narrative sense and, maybe this displays what an idiot i am, but i thought it was sequential MOVING camera narrative! it made me think, and because i enjoy this piece so much, that i would LOVE to see a whole gallery show or series on the web (anywhere!) of you doing street scenes with people, maybe even telling a story, but moving the camera around the whole street like it was films from an animated film. details of the previous painting in the background of every current one, you know? just to see where in space and street they moved. that's almost what i thought was going on here, and you have such great detail but simple representation and excellent decisions where to put what colors and how, i don't know, i just got a kick out f it. great post
