Dia de los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos, 6.385x10.25", graphite & digital

Hi all, I wasn't sure if I would be submitting to the show this time around, time permitting, but thankfully I was able to get something together. Like a lot of people I was really intrigued by the tradition surrounding the marigolds in relation to the holiday, and moreover how they were used to attract the ghosts. So, we have a young ghost boy spectrally floating around one of the "Flor de Muerto" (thank you, Wikipedia.)

Hope you guys enjoy it.

WHOA! This piece really came together very nicely. I didn't even realize the ghost was inside of a skull until closer inspection, it can double as a hollowed tree. Really beautiful, it's not only gorgeous to look at, but it tugs my heartstrings. It's sad and mystical, and wow that color scheme. Go green!

you really captured that ghostly pressence soo well, tha firey glow and that whipping about under the marigold. I feel like this piece is making that poltergeist girl in the tv noise right now. You really get pulled into this. Come to think of it this might be the first illustrated ghost ive ever seen, really really strong piece. sometimes its the ones that we dont have the longest time to work on that turn out the best. whats the size on this?

thanks so much, anthony. i guess it helped that this is something that has been brewing for a while in my head, maybe that's why it came out the way it did. It is a pretty small piece thought, time and all, at 6.385 x 10.25"
