Some stuff in the form of an update

Hey ASOP dudes.

I thought I'd post my process and (hopefully) final for a project I'm just wrapping up.
The folks at UArts contacted me hoping to get a show poster made for the Brind School's production of FOLLIES. It's a Stephen Sondheim musical, and actually Mr. Sondheim himself will be signing some copies and raffling them off! How cool is that? No pressure or anything . . .

So below are some thumbnails I sent to the creative director. To explain the feel of the show briefly, and bear with me here . . . it showcases the breakdown of people, their dreams, and the building that housed them over time. We see small cracks in the foundations of architecture, of relationships, and of personal identity rending the future in this play. It's very sad and very human, and at the same time glorious.
I was digging the first sketch, which shows a ghostly follie posing atop disappearing floor boards.
I got the okay to persue sketch 2, and later, sketch 1. See the revised color comps below. Also . . . these are not the best drawings.

After some deliberation, the choice was to go with the ghostly stage scene. Awesome. Some tweaking, refinement, and design later, see the below final.

It's still awaiting final FINAL approval, but all signs point to yes. I'm pumped to see these around center city!

Oh, and I'm on Twitter as of this morning. So, let's . . . uh, tweet . . . together?

Gratz on the gig, Jac! Pretty great post, I like all the process work you've included. I'm glad they went with the first idea, it's easily the strongest one (in my opinion!). Anyway, best of luck with getting your final FINAL approval, it looks great!

your work looks stellar as always. the boards of the stage look amazing, really clever use of them. i have to admit, i responded most to sketch number 2, but they're all strong. you're going places, sinquett!
