thanks yall.

-PW, ill admit a ton of NC has seeped into my brain over the years and has played a major influence, and was a master at painting sinister old dudes with white beards. (this fellas face is I'll admit quite similar to the wizard in king author) So I guess you could use the word overt. I'm definitely not trying to be a clone though. But I guess I'm trying to keep that feel of golden age illustration alive. As always I took my own reference, dressed up in a cape and took pictures of myself looking creepy.

Sick magical crown! Pedro this is boss. Totally boss. Awesome to see a more realistic version of one of these characters.

Haha! I think PW meant 'OVER', not 'overt'.

I love the atmosphere here. Totally absorbing.

d'oh!

i absolutely meant "OVER" !

i definitely should proof read my off the cuff exuberance. you must think i'm such a jerk

Pedro i swear i didn't mean anything underhanded or invite debate over influence versus homage versus appropriation versus appreciation. shoot, i really just meant to say it puts me in the same spirit as flipping through the grandparent's version of treasure island, etc.

crimminies, apologies for the confusion! thanks Collin for clearing it up!

Its all good Pete! I don't think your a jerk if anything I would invite that sort of thing. I think this site could use some comments/responses that would open up some debate, I think its healthy. That actually put me on the defense, which is a good thing. Something that unfortnately I (we) might have to get used to as we grow as artists outside our circle of friends and into the world (Alex and I just talked about this recently). But anyways I couldn't have asked for a more flattering compliment. To even put me in the same sentence as the man is the highest form of praise a simple art fella like me could ask for.
