PLAYTIME! Recap & Photos

Come on in . . .
The show was a success! I want to personally thank all the artists that contributed to the show. This was my first time as curator and everyone involved was positive the entire time for the charity. Thank you again. We had a great variety of work and subject matter as always within the autumn society. Many set their contribution to 100% and we had A LOT of toy donations. I was happy to meet members in person: Phil, Drew, Tim, Kasey, Matt (Hepler and Welsh), Mark, and Alex. You all did an outstanding job and I want to thank you for making the time to contribute your work to such a good cause. I hope the show will inspire more members to participate next year when we have "PLAYTIME Strikes Back!"
I would also like to tell you about a real good moment during the opening. Correct me if I'm wrong James, but I believe your name was James the 5th. James is one of 8 siblings in a small row home and was actually a "tot" that received "toys" when he was young from the program. Now, grown up and working, he makes it a specific effort to generously fill toy for tots donation boxes each December. He is a fan of the blog and knew about the Playtime show. When he made it to the show, Jim Boyle's piece stopped him. He apparently just had a glimpse into his childhood. "Same haircut, same TMNT sprawl on the carpet floor, same Dad reading the paper in the background." He bought it without question.

I'm glad Lori stopped him and said hello after seeing multiple toys go into the donation box. The entire 360 moment was quite touching and made my night. That's what the show is all about.

If you are a fan of the blog, don't live in the area, but wish to make an art purchase, please check with Brave New Worlds of Old City to see what is still available for sale and maybe they can work something out for you.
