I got a sneak peak at the show today, and the art is awesome! Cant wait to hang with everyone at the opening tomorrow.....

The Sailor's Lady

my piece for "a sailor's grave" show. i'm a huge tattoo lover, so i'm really excited to be part of this show. all of the sailor-jerry-inspired artwork will look awesome together. my piece was actually really challenging for me, and it felt great to have struggled the way i did with it.  i'm not even sure if it looks all that different than my normal work, but it was tough for me to stay with the tattoo style and keep it simple. i think (hope) that it ended up a nice combination of my style and sailor jerry's style.

Mermaid painting for A Sailors Grave

Here is my piece for the "A Sailor's Grave" art show @ the Sailor Jerry Store, opening Friday (11/12) at 8. I wanted to do something that had Sailor Jerry's simplistic detail, and used the traditional tattoo colors of black, green and red. I sketched out what I wanted to do, then broke out 3 stencils for each color. Rather than using solid colors, I went over areas, then added light sprays of black for shading. I think it has a lot more depth than my usual work. Once that was done, I went drew in the detail with a fine point paint marker. I'm extremely excited for this show, and I hope to see a lot of familiar faces at the opening.

FUN FACT: we originally wanted the show to be called "Booze, Broads, and Boats," but SJ decided to change it.

GOONIES II

Just for the record, there was a Goonies II....sort of.  The 1987 NES games involved the return of the Fratellis, a mermaid, and other adventures! Can't wait for the 3G Show premiere tomorrow!

Shiver Me Timbers

Hey Yall!

it's been a while but here's a new piece. This is been floating around in the old brain for quite a while, and I finally had some free time to do it. This is pretty much how I saw in in my head, except for the mappy background, which I came up with off the top. Hope you like her. Oh, btw this piece features a first in my pin up series-- nipple! Had to happen sooner or later. ENJOY!
