Crazy 4 Cult 5: 1984-1987

If you're like me, then 1984 - 1987 was a damn good year for movies.

I've always wanted a giant poster of these four:
Predator
Goonies
Big Trouble in Little China
and The Never Ending Story

Although I'd never dreamed of mashing them all together, that's what I decided to do. I hope you dig.

Prints will be on sale tomorrow at Gallery1988. The run is limited to 88.

cheers,
Andrew Wilson

Gallery 1988 presents: "Crazy 4 Cult 5, I'm getting too old for this shit"

"The First Goonie"
18x24" Pencil, white charcoal and pastel on paper

Hey guys, I wanted to share one of my recent gallery pieces which will be shown inGallery1988's Melrose location in LA. I was lucky enough to be asked to submit a piece for this iconic show, Crazy 4 Cult. A special thanks to Jensen for the invite! This will be their 5th C4C annual show so I feel honored to be a part of it! The show's theme is exactly what it sounds like, cult movies. And what better cult movie from the 80's is there other than The Goonies. Here's my submission for the show, hope you guys dig it!

Hanging on to strains of green and blues...

Hello internet. My name is Andrew Wilson. I was recently invited to join the awesome artists here at the Autumn Society for their Goonies show. Thanks Autumn Society and Drake Brodahl for the introduction.

The last time I watched the movie I wept because I realized that I never got to be a Goonie or explore a cave with treasure when I was young enough to be excited by it. Now I'm old enough to make a Goonie, and if I ever get to hook up with Andy, well, now I'd go to prison. (Actually that doesn't make sense because she's aged with me, but you get the point.)

Enough words. Enjoy the artwork. If you wander over to my blog I have the process of this painting.

I hope I meet your unspoken expectations and ideals you used to play with.
(I also hope you get all the Cyndi Lauper references in this post.)

THIS IS OUR TIME NOW (GOONIES RE-SUBMITTED & REMEMBERED)

As much as I am excited for our upcoming SHELL-SHOCK show, I'm also very excited for our Goonies, THIS IS OUR TIME NOW show at LUNAR BOY GALLERY in Astoria, OR. To me this is the ultimate Goonies art gallery & tribute experience, since Astoria is the town where Goonies was filmed (1984-1985), not to mention that the town folk love and promote the Goonies all year long! What more can you ask for?

I wanted to re-share with you my Goonies (8 arms to hold you) piece above from Crazy For Cult 4 @ Gallery 1988. A lot of the pieces for this upcoming show will be re-submissions from our 3G Show, but also expect some new ones from new artists that have joined our ship in the last year.

June is sure to be a hit month for us with TMNT & Goonies going back to back in completely different coasts, we can't lose! Below are some pictures of my Goonies pilgrimage I made last year in Astoria & Cannon Beach, OR. Oregon has a lot to offer and I definitely plan on going back! I recommend the trip to Astoria to any Goonies fan, you won't regret it!

Happy Turkey Day!

Mark it zero!!! Thought this was an appropriate post for today since a "Turkey" is a bowling term when one gets 3 strikes in a row. Anywho, did this piece as commission for a big fan of the "Big Lebowski". A great, great film, one of my favs.
Also, Gallery 1988 is having a Black Friday sale tomorrow 11/26, it's 30% off original artwork and 20% off prints including a second edition of my sold out 3G show prints in a spiffy new color scheme. Click the link to check all of my prints they'll have available...G1988/Dave Perillo Prints
