Video Violence Show at Exhumed Films -vs- NODIVISION

Hey folks!

Here is my contribution for the Video Violence Art Show coming up this Saturday
during the 24 hour horror movie marathon!!!

From the event's Facebook page:

A study of cult film on the now defunct Video Home System. Artists from across the country will cut, paint, print and deface VHS copies of their favorite films from the past. Join us as we celebrate the lost experience of late night trips to the video store, When you could rent your favorite tape, wear it out play after play and return it (without rewinding). The show will take place during Exhumed Films annual 24 Hour Horror-Thon at the I-House in Philadelphia. For one night only, we’re turning the lobby of the theater into your favorite local video store.

Featuring: Justin Bartlett, Michael Bukowski, Jeanne D’Angelo, Paul D’Elia, Donald Dixon, Nick Dupey, JP Flexner, Skylar Gahagan, Jill Ginsberg, Justin Gray, Eric Guntor, James Heimer, Shawn Hileman, Zach Hobbs, Dan Judge, Julien Langendorff, Alex Lukas, Mark McCoy, TJ McGlade, Justin Miller, Jessica Robles, C.M. Ruiz, Jessica Scarlett, Josh Schafer, Perry Shall, Adam Smith, Sam Smith, Steven Speir and more.

Starting Saturday evening at 7PM!

The International House

3701 Chestnut St

Philadelphia, PA

Hope to see you cretins there~!!

This show definitely raised the bar on ASOP shows. I had no idea there were going to be as many participants as there are. Every one stepped it up and we will be reppin it hard out west. Especially Pete and Jude, you guys always impress every time.

Okay so no groundbreaking creativity points on these, I know. I'm really bummed mine are so straight up and boring compared to every one's. I wasn't sure I was participating and by the time I got around to these the deadline loomed ever closer and with three to do I had to do some thing I knew I could handle. So I decided to round out my portfolio with some females, some thing I needed. I also thought 3G = 3gals could work. I wish I could be at this opening.

Thanks to Joe as always for networking, and thanks to every one posting, commenting, and sharing ideas and work.

Prayer to Mothra

"If we were to call for help, over time, over sea, like a wave, you'd come"

8"X10"

acrylic on panel

This picture features Mothra (or Mosura) in her larval stage headed toward Tokyo Bay to answer a distress call by the Shobijin (small fairy twins who can communicate with Mothra telepathically). The title of the painting is part of Mothra's prayer or song the Twins sing to contact Mothra. Mothra often aids as an ally to Godzilla but more often an enemy and worthy adversary to the "King of Monsters"

I had a tons of fun painting this, more then I thought I would, something about a giant worm crashing through the waves to cause destruction I guess. But I really had more fun hanging out watching Godzilla movies for research, Hope fully soon I would like to a King Ghidorah piece!!
