TENDER LOVING EMPIRE (Portland, OR)

On my recent trip to Portland(Oregon), I fell in love with an amazing store filled with hand-made arts & crafts, prints, original music, clothing, and much much more! This amazing place is called TENDER LOVING EMPIRE. It's definitely part of the "do-it-youself" movement and reminds me of a store-contained version of the Punk-Rock Flea Markets we have in Philly.

So if you visit Portland or are around the area, be sure to visit this amazing & inspiring store! As a group we can only hope to do something this amazing someday. Until then, rest assured that we will be pursuing art shows & events with with Tender Loving Empire or other stores like it.

8-BIT CALAVERA SHOW

"MUERTO PERO NO OLVIDADO"
by Matthew "matK" Kerfren

Hi everyone! This is a mixed media piece of sculpture, acrylic, pencil, tech pen and dirt (yes, dirt). I was nervous about taking on this project, but ended up really enjoying it and I am sad to see it go. A nice little unplanned side effect of the dirt mounds happened - it's stands on it's on with a built in base - it's a nice plus for display options if anyone buys it at the show.

I've really enjoyed seeing everyone's pieces so far on the blog with all the different styles. I look fwd to seeing them all together for the bigger, final skull presentation. Thanks Joe for setting this up with Ground Kontrol, it was a blast!

moleskine drawings

Hey folks, just updated my blog today with some drawings from my sketchbook that are hanging at The Cup and Saucer Cafe here in Portland, along with prints from paintings I did in school. They were generous enough to let me hang my work there for this month and I just wanted to share what I've been doodling for the past few weeks with y'all.

All the pieces for the Dia de los Muertos show look sweet - wish I could see an Autumn show in person!
