Here's a pinup I just finished for the second volume of Alex-Eckman Lawn and Nick Tapalansky's creepy, splattery comic Awakening. I wanted to paint this all by hand but time caught up with me - I'm pretty rusty these days. Was a sweet experience!

finally...!
Thanks to all y'all who gave me some great feedback the last time I posted this, when it was halfway finished. I got a little obsessive with this painting, but it's finally done. It was hard to get the lighting of the photo right since the paper's got some buckling (didn't I learn anything in school, like using tape?!) and I have yet to flatten it out. Anyways, on to the next thing!

painting feedback! gimme some!
Hey folks, so I've been sketching and doodling like mad, getting ready for another show at the end of December. I have no idea why I presist working with media that drives me insane (ie: watercolor) but I can't help but love working with it... to a degree. I'm trying out working much, much larger than I normally do.

So here's a piece I kinda jotted down out of my head with no real planning. It's fun and I feel almost done, but I wanted some feedback... it feels overworked and I kinda want to go into it with more white gouache, and I'm a bit frustrated with the values. What do you think? Thanks for anything you can give me!

Awesome Hellboy stuff, by the way!

moleskine drawings
Hey folks, just updated my blog today with some drawings from my sketchbook that are hanging at The Cup and Saucer Cafe here in Portland, along with prints from paintings I did in school. They were generous enough to let me hang my work there for this month and I just wanted to share what I've been doodling for the past few weeks with y'all. All the pieces for the Dia de los Muertos show look sweet - wish I could see an Autumn show in person!

panzer people
Here's the final painting of my Panzer Dragoon throwback for the 8-bit show. I went through a few color palettes and a couple of drawings with this one and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Still think I need to tweak the lights some more but I'm burnt out!! Wish I could see everyone's work in person.

laser-breathing dragons

Here's the (almost) finished drawing for my contribution to the 8-Bit show. Totally excited and nerding-out about this piece and it feels like the first painting I've worked on in ages that I really dig. Still have to work out the pistol (gun? blaster?!) and the hand up front, and can't wait to attack this thing with some color! Would love to hear some input from you folks.
ps - everything looks super awesome!! thanks to y'all for keeping me motivated.

more iPhone junk!
Hey all you cool cats, here 's a couple of more projects I've been working on for Tapjoy, a small group of folks making some iPhone apps that are becoming pretty popular. These are scratch-and-win cards, not unlike those you'd find for a buck or two at a gas station or shady truck stop on the highway. They're meant to be seen on the iPhone's nice li'l screen, but I've uploaded them slightly larger.

The first project I did for them was the splash screen for their free game Tap Defense, which I have to confess is crazy-addictive! You can see that piece on my blog or download the app here. If you have one of those spiffy phones then I'm sure you know the drill. It looks really nice on the tiny, crisp iPhone screen!
All the new work is amazing!! It's great to see everyone's work transform and progress over the past few years. I'm getting off of my lazy bum after my recent move to the West Coast and hope to share some more stuff with y'all and get involved in these awesome shows.
Ciao for now!

cannon fodder
Howdy folks! Here's a recent project I wrapped up a couple of weeks ago for the strategy game Tap Defense, a free iPhone game that you can download here. They are releasing the new version with this splash screen in the next couple of weeks!!

Below is another version with some baddies that we decided to take out... at such a small size it got a little confusing.

I forgot what it's like to work on a deadline... talk about a wake up call. I've started to dust off my blog as well. Keep up the awesome work y'all, it's great to see all the sweet stuff being churned out!

* Autumn Society on Youtube! *
Well, I finally sat down and dabbled with different video setting and behold, now we're on youtube!
This is a quick video I did to summarize last year's comic con (In the video are: Sam & James Heimer, Anthony Pedro, Eamon Dougherty, Maris Hare, Transformers, Daniel Trauten, and I, Chogrin). So if you think this is cool...Comic Con 08 will blow your minds! Plus, more videos of different sorts...like interviews, studio tours, and more! This is just the beginning!
