80's and clowntastrophe!

my piece for the 80's toy show. i love the idea of this show because it led to hours of me searching 80's toys online and reliving my childhood. made me giddy. but my love for rainbow brite conquers all so i painted her and starlite!

This is "El Payaso the Luchador" a Circus Punk I did for an upcoming show called "Clowntastrophe". Below is all the info about the show...

"Clowntastrophe!" Art Event was created in 2006 by painter PaulPalcko and fashion icon PsyddeDelicious, from their mutual love of Clowns. The shows are held annually at Delicious Boutique in Philadelphia, PA.

"Clowntastrophe!" is about the Circus and Sideshow tradition. Part art show/ part history lesson, the art is visual interpretation of the historic aspects of the American traveling shows, the gritty dirt roads...and some distorted memories involving clowns.

if you don't know, Paul's annual Clowntastrophe art show at Delicious Corsets Boutique will be a carnival blast, complete with sideshow, performances, great artwork by Paul + 30 other local and national artists, and even discounts on all Delicious products. Circus Punk for Clowntastrophe

I painted this Circus Punk for the Clowntastrophe Art Show in Philadelphia. The show will feature artwork of Paul Palcko, as well as 30 artists' paintings on these Punks. For mine I decided to go kind of simple, I wasn't sure how the Punk would take spray paint, since it was basically stuffed canvas. I sketched out the design on tracing paper (not a computer!), and then cut out some tape masks to spray paint.
The show is Sat. June 26th, 2010; 6-9pm. At Delicious Boutique Sideshow, The Piazza at Schmidt's, 2nd and Germantown Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19123.
