Just a quick first post!

Hey everyone!

This will be my first post here and while I meant for it to be more introductory I'm busy getting ready for a show tonight so I thought I'd just post a favorite image from that for now:


Like everything I do, this is done using a mixture of casein emulsion paint and gouache on paper. It's about 12" X 12". You can read more about the story behind it on this post on my blog.

It's for the show Mike Bukowski and I have an opening for tonight at Part Time Studios if you're in Philly and you'd like to stop by and see more. Otherwise I'll be posting more of the pieces and the new stuff I'm starting at some later date.

Across the Haunted Sea

Hey dudes, I know it's been a while since I posted on here but I've been super busy working on a show. Jeanne D'Angelo and I have an opening at Part Time Studios on First Friday March 4th of all sea monsters/folklore. Here's the card.
I'll have about 15 pieces (10 of which are small), and Jeanne, about 8 (and her's are better than mine). Below is my interpretation of Ahuizotl, an Aztec dog-monster. Hope you can make it out!
The ahuizotl is a legendary creature in Aztec belief. It was described as dog-like, with hands capable of manipulation ("And its hands are like a raccoon's hands or like a monkey's hands.") and an additional hand on its tail. The ahuizotl was feared due to its liking for human flesh, especially nails, eyes, and teeth. It was said to live in or near the water and uses the hand on the end of its tail to snatch its prey.
