Dead and Dreaming

Here's my piece for Sam Heimer's Dead and Dreaming show. I did a portrait of Wilbur Whateley from The Dunwich Horror. So far all the work I've seen for this show is amazing! Can't wait for the book!

Yog-Blogsoth

So, I haven't posted on here in forever but Chogrin asked me to share my blog project Yog-Blogsoth. I've been drawing every creature in ever H.P. Lovecraft story. Everything from the more recognizable stuff (Cthulhu, Elder Things, Shoggoths) to the more obscure stuff (Mutant Penguins, Fungus Vampires, Aegipans) to stuff that's only mentioned (Wamps, Vooniths, Yakith Lizards).

The blog's also been getting a ton of internet press, like on Wired, Boingboing, and io9! Even on this bizarre Hungarian website, Sötét jövő!

Anyway, I'd love it if you guys checked it out and gave me some feedback. Here's a few samples.Sentient Trapezoid-Dreams In the Witch-House

Across the Haunted Sea

Hey dudes, I know it's been a while since I posted on here but I've been super busy working on a show. Jeanne D'Angelo and I have an opening at Part Time Studios on First Friday March 4th of all sea monsters/folklore. Here's the card.
I'll have about 15 pieces (10 of which are small), and Jeanne, about 8 (and her's are better than mine). Below is my interpretation of Ahuizotl, an Aztec dog-monster. Hope you can make it out!
The ahuizotl is a legendary creature in Aztec belief. It was described as dog-like, with hands capable of manipulation ("And its hands are like a raccoon's hands or like a monkey's hands.") and an additional hand on its tail. The ahuizotl was feared due to its liking for human flesh, especially nails, eyes, and teeth. It was said to live in or near the water and uses the hand on the end of its tail to snatch its prey.

My 3G's Pieces!

Hey dudes, Mike Bukowski here, I know I'm late in the game posting these but I just finished them up yesterday. This is also my first post on here so feedback would be much appreciated.

So, I tried to tie all my pieces together by drawing a character mentioned in each movie that's not actually in each movie. I should also say Gremlins is one of my favorite movies of all time and NOT drawing a Gremlin was one of the hardest artistic decisions I've ever had to make.

First up Ivo Shandor from Ghostbusters. I love the hints of mythology thrown out in that movie. Tobin's Spirit Guide, The Spate's Catalog, and this guy...

"The architect's name was Ivo Shandor. He was also a doctor. Performed a lot of unnecessary surgery. And then in 1920 he started a secret society: Gozer worshippers. After the First World War, Shandor decided that society was too sick to survive And he wasn't alone. He had close to a thousand followers when he died. They conducted rituals up on the roof, bizarre rituals intended to bring about the end of the world, and now it looks like it may actually happen!"

Next up: Mr. Beringer. The scene in Gremlins where Kate describes her father's accidental death was one of the scariest/saddest thing in the movie for me as a child and even now. Apparently the studio fought hard to have it removed and up until it's release date, Warner Brothers had two versions of the film ready to ship out, one with and one without.

"Me and Mom were decorating the tree...waiting for Dad to come home from work. A couple hours went by. Dad wasn't home. So Mom called the office. No answer.Christmas Day came and went, and still nothing. So the police began a search. Four or five days went by. Neither one of us could eat or sleep. Everything was falling apart. It was snowing outside. The house was freezing, so I went to try to light up the fire. That's when I noticed the smell. The firemen came and broke through the chimney top. And me and Mom were expecting them to pull out a dead cat or a bird. And instead they pulled out my father. He was dressed in a Santa Claus suit. He'd been climbing down the chimney...He was gonna surprise us. He slipped and broke his neck.He died instantly. And that's how I found out there was no Santa Claus."

Lastly, One Eyed Willie is my favorite dude from Goonies....
"Hi Willie. Oh, I'm Mike Walsh. You've been expecting me, haven't you? Well I made it. I beat you. I got here in one piece... so far. So... that's why they call you "One-Eyed Willie"... One-Eyed Willie...We have a lot in common, huh, Willie? You know something, Willie? You're the first Goonie. Yo. Hi guys. How's it going? This is Willie... One-Eyed Willie. Say hi, Willie. Those are my friends... the Goonies. How long have you guys been standing there?"
There you go! Hope you guys like 'em. All the stuff I've seen for the show so far is amazing! I'm pumped to be a part of it!
