I recently had the pleasure to do an interview for the University of the Arts' EDGE magazine, which featured my personal work, as well as the Autumn Society in an article involving illustration. A big thank-you to Nick Agneta for the scans!

"On Batman"
Hi guys. Reading tessar lo's blog, I saw that he had put up a link to a nice essay on why The Dark Knight was skipped over during the Academy nods. It was cathartic for me to read someone else's disappointment because I was also disappointed and dealt with some ignorant criticisms of the movie while I was at work one day.
The grievances seem to all stem from the fact that Batman is a comic book- and therefore lacks substance categorically? Pshaw, friends. I had thought that mode of thinking had been exorcised, seeing that comics have been accepted in literature (there's now an America's Best series on comics), art (like the many exhibitions of comics...like the SoI Sequential show?), and academia (Understanding Comics, Maus, and Persepolis are now standard college reading). I had hoped that The Dark Knight would be similarly hailed by the Academy for its magnificent story, performances, and screenplay. Guess not.
Anyway, you can read the nice piece here. Thanks.
