Heart Earth Ideare

I'll be brewing up some other ideas, but this one's a tree of life sort of thang.

I think this idea is really sweet. I especially am liking the design of the roots at the bottom, works great on a silhouette like this. Can't wait to see this tree in full bloom :)

Maybe if I added blooms and leaves in a different paper color, it wouldn't distract from the rest of the piece? Hmmmmm.

Thanks, Erock!

different paper color is a good idea! or maybe a grey, if you're willing to use that. i think right now it looks way ominous which is probably not what you're going for, and adding leaves would change that right away. also, that ax snake symbol is cool, but i was thinking it might work as a white shape on the trunk of the tree. just a thought.

this looks really good, maybe you could make the tree look like it is just starting to bud, just like all the trees look right now. the buds could be a slightly different hue maybe.

there's a great angular quality i am REALLY digging here. it's new and everything works. i guess if you're itching for leaves to help with the life aspect, just try a subtle colored silhouette shape behind the black tree? gorgeous work again Desiree

This is just my opinion, but I think the the image looks amazing just as black and white. I think if you're going to add color to something so bold, I would add suddle textures in the entire background. Maybe scan in a couple of leaves or something. Definitely light colors though, so the black still pops. Awesome design and drawing overall!

Now that I'm looking at it a second time...I really like the simplicity of the green and yellow on the tree and axe, but maybe make them a bit more stronger or add a tan / light brown paper texture element behind them in the background to make everything stand out even more.

i agree with a lot of what Joe Game says, especially how strong your stuff is in glorious black and white. on this piece however, the simple circle you used, and the color of it, is perfect. i don't know if you need a green pastel to say "bright life" but that may be my bias against easter m&ms. i think the shape you've cut is nice on the leaves, maybe a mossier/earthy color will read a little more contrast and still get the "new life" idea across. i would love to see where you go with more textures and patterns as well, just as a curiosity, i think your art is wonderful and has so many possibilities as well as stands strong on its own
