Mugshots Coffeehouse & Cafe will premiere the documentary "Paddle to Seattle" this Friday, May 29th at 7pm. All Autumn Society members are invited to attend this special screening. Check out the video and info on the event below.



"The premiere of the new documentary Paddle to Seattle will be at Mugshots! This will be the FIRST PUBLIC SCREENING of the completed film AND J.J. Kelley will be here to present the film and answer your questions!

How would you get from one side of the world to another without a motor? It’s a question many couldn’t comprehend. But two young adventurers are taking on the challenge. J.J. Kelley and Josh Thomas paddle homemade kayaks 1,300 miles from Alaska to Seattle. The three-month journey is a distance equivalent of Greenland to the UK. Throughout their adventure they attempt to capture the wilderness and culture of the Inside Passage. The project is first ever expedition film project documenting the vast expanse. It is without question the most scenic and challenging paddling trip in North America."

Philly Spells!

A great new organization has been recently founded in Philadelphia by Jill Schiller. This organization is the Philly Spells Writing Center.

The organization focuses on helping kids with writing, using the help of writers, educators, artists, and business owners, through self expressionism and exploration! If you wish to volunteer please go to this link ( phillyspells.org/volunteer )!

This movement and group was inspired by the 826 Valencia Workshop philosophy by Dave Eggers from San Francisco, California. Watch a super inspiring video about it below!

Established in September of 2006 by Joseph Game, a.k.a Chogrin, Sam Heimer, and Eamon Dougherty, The Autumn Society is a group of artists that started in Philadelphia and is now expanding worldwide. From Illustrators, Musicians, Designers, Photographers, Filmmakers, Animators, and other art mediums, the Autumn Society offers a wide array of styles and imagination to the world.

Besides showcasing their work daily on their blog ( theautumnsociety.blogspot.com ) and in galleries, the Autumn Society also makes appearances at Comic Conventions and other related expos, offering zines, prints, and other exclusive media that makes the group so original and unique.

HEART EARTH

Heart Earth is a collection of artwork relating to our planet Earth. The artwork varies from Earth’s beauty and splendor, to its violent behavior and current environmental status. We hope this assembly of work inspires people into appreciating and taking better care of our only home planet.

Heart Earth is also the Autumn Society’s second gallery show in Philadelphia, and will be on display for the month of May at Mugshots Coffeehouse & Cafe in Fairmount, PA, starting on May 7th, at 7pm.

Hey everyone this is my piece for the Heart Earth show. It's about Earth's suffering because of our economic( I probably used the wrong economic) sins. The show's gonna be great and I'm excited to see everyone's work. :)

Finally got my Heart Earth submission together, just in time. This one is a linoleum block print with watercolor. I think I have enough prints (sans watercolor) to be able to try selling a few at the opening.

Here is my entry for the "Heart, Earth, " show. I love road trips, I think they are one of the best ways to explore and appreciate the natural world. This particular piece was inspired by a trip I took down Rte1 in California last summer.

Heart Earth

Hey...

So heres my submission for the show...got it done just in time (as usual). It is BY FAR my most girly painting to date. I hope the "woman parts" are tastful enough for the show. Sorry for sending you guys that huge file (uploaded the wrong one)...::sigh::

Heart Earth and Space Comic Con

this is my submission to the heart earth show. this is highly influenced by the 70's man-thing comics i've been reading lately. i've been experimenting with my color and media lately, this is done in inks and colored pencil.

also i'd like to point out space comic con is happening this weekend in ohio, i unfortunately couldn't make it out there but some of my work will be at there in various books.

the new issue of slam bang by fanatic press is going to be released there which has a 6 page story by me.

also steve peters will be selling issues of the philly comix jam best of comic and giant choad comix as well as his own series, tails of sparky, all of which i have panels of jam comics in.

and i might be mistaken but i think some of the always comix girls will be selling some issues of their anthologys that i'm apart of too.
