this week is the opening of a great show i'm proud to be a part of.  the rise up gallery art exhibition! these are 2 of my 6 pieces that will be on display, along with 30 or so more pieces by other disabled artists. for those of you who don't know, i am an artist living with paralysis.  feel free to visit www.riseupgallery.com for more info and http://www.rutcp.org/ (rise up to cure paralysis)

Heart Earth

Heart Earth submission

Finally got my Heart Earth submission together, just in time. This one is a linoleum block print with watercolor. I think I have enough prints (sans watercolor) to be able to try selling a few at the opening.

(Heart Earth) Bristlecone Pines

Me and my friend Ryan rolled up to a patch of gnarly branched, twisted, not to tall trees growing amongst some rocks on the mountain. We stood around snapped some pics, smoked ciggarette's, drank a beer and moved on. He told me they were endangered in some way but didn't know why. I did some research years later and found out their signifacance. The Bristlecone Pine is one of the oldest living organism on earth, up to 5,000 years. Some were saplings while the pyramids were being constructed. They grow very slowly due the conditions they live below the tree line in cold and dry climates. They have thrived in places where no other tree would and free of compitition, each year growing 1/1000th of an inch. I thought this would be perfect for the Heart Earth show coming up w/ the autumn society brethren. These trees are just an example of how life on earth always finds a way and will continue to flourish long after were gone. Its these kind of things about the planet that amaze me, that something we may see everyday and take for granted, like a tree, may have a story far greater then any human could ever tell.

Ichabod & the Spooky Tree

Hey all, long time no see. I've been hammering away at a project for a while, and as a result I don't have much new material to show. In the interest of putting out some new stuff, the above is a drawing for my Sleepy Hollow comic, in which Ichabod Crane rides past a spooky tree. I liked the drawing a lot, and thought I'd share it.

I did a few cards for the game Warlord (the very same CCG our own Eric Braddock did a piece for), but unfortunately I can't show the pieces until the set comes out at the end of next month. I'm waiting with bated breath to share those, but in the mean time scary trees will have to do. See you all at the Joker Show.

Illustration Friday 9-3 "Island"

Well there wasn't to much going on the week, and I haven't done
a full illustration in a while. So I decided to participate in this weeks
Illustration Friday. Top was "Island" and I like how it came out.
