RED SKULL REMEMBERANCE

Oddly enough I posted some artwork with Captain America, on this very day exactly two years ago. That very same image had a RED SKULL Drawing in it too. Scope it out HERE. It was my very first project with THE AUTUMN SOCIETY OF PHILADELPHIA. Figured I'd post this in tribute to that day. Super skribbly line work on a NOTEPAD (uncommon sketch surface for me. Like the deformation of his face...Might visit it again for when the movie releases in a few weeks...looking forward to HUGO's portrayal of this character.

Thor Thursday - 05

In this Weeks Thor Thursday I decided to depict the final battle between Thor and Loki.

The trickster himself, the son of frost giants and enemy of Asgard, Loki Laufeyson is overwhelmed and overpowered. Defeated he waits for the Odinson to relinquish the final blow.

So I finally got the chance to watch Nicolas Winding Refn's new film Valhalla Rising. It was a very dark and cerebral viking film. Needless to say I loved it, and this weeks Thor Thursday is very much so inspired by that movie.

X-Mensters

In the spirit of the recent merger... here are 2 subjects that are near and dear to my heart... Imagine that for a second; Pixar making a Marvel Comics movie. I child can dream right?

Grappling with STEVE ROGERS...

So, I'm getting the ball rolling on my Golden age Show submission, and I don't have a ton of time, or an Idea I like yet...but I have been thinking about colors...
Attached are three images that capture some of the colors I'm thinking about using (this will not be the drawing however), maybe mixing and matching a few...because I'm concerned some of its getting too PINKish..
I just didn't wanna use the normal super saturated RED WHITE AND BLUE....was hoping for a different flavor...maybe make greenish blue....
Well lemme know what you might think about it, in the mean time I gotta get a composition idea rolling..

Well, May's Marvel images is starting to wind down.. I could keep going but, think it might be smart to step back from it and try apply myself to other endeavors...

Comic Review: Violent Comics from Marvel!

(Warning This Post Contains Violent, Gory, and Mature Content!)

DESTROYER

I recently picked up Robert Kirkman's and Cory Walker's version of the Destroyer, and it does not disappoint. Destroyer is based off the character Keen Marlow, a pre-marvel / Timely Comics character that was created during the Golden Age of comics (1930s - 1940s). If you're looking for a fast paced, straight up, no bs, action comic, this comic is for you!

This title comes from Marvel's MAX Comics line, which is for mature readers only. I gotta give credit to Marvel for creating this line and growing some balls!

Also look up Destroyer on wiki! He would be a great character to do for the golden age of comics show in July. Here he in his Golden Age attire.

KICK-ASS

Another great comic that's been out for awhile now is Mark Millar's and John Romita Jr.'s KICK ASS. This comic been coming out in spurts, but each issue is worth the wait. Like Destroyer, its got a lot of action and gore, with a little bit of teen angst thrown into the mix.

This one is published through Marvel's Icon Comics imprint, which is geared toward more creator-owned titles.

To no surprise,this title already started being made into a live-action movie, while the comic is still ongoing and not finished. It does look pretty darn faithful to the material though and its being directed by a kick-ass director, Matthew Vaughn.
