My SUPER SENTAI (known as the "POWER RANGERS" in the US) tribute for the upcoming KAMEN RIDER VS SUPER SENTAI Anniversaries Tribute Exhibition, at the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center this Saturday!!! Brought to you by the fine folks at Q Pop and Christopher Mitchell

My piece is inspired by the "Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger" episode "恐怖! 瞬間喰い" (Terror! Eaten In An Instant), featuring ...Pudgy Pig (ドーラキルケ).

In my version, the Rangers obviously don't make it....

Well if there was one prominent figure to tribute with the Iconoclastic Dead Show it'd have to be Jim Henson. With a bit of felt and a lot of heart, he shaped my childhood into the awesomeness that it was!

UDON Mega Man Art Tribute Book

So awhile back, I entered a Mega Man art tribute contest that Capcom & UDON Entertainment put together. I made the below image, and really didn't think I'd get pick, but I was proven wrong on that note.
Now with the book premiering at Comic Con in San Diego next week, they're encouraging all the winners to not be secretive about posting their work (legal reasons I think. Technically, what I made belongs to them now.)

GUILLERMO DEL TORO TRIBUTE

This a tribute I did for one of the most influential artists / movie directors in my life. His name is Guillermo Del Toro. My illustration tributes his 3 original films: Cronos (the cronos device), The Devil's Backbone (Santi, the ghost), and Pan's Labyrinth (the Faun). I also did this to coincide with a signing and screening for the release of Cronos on criterion DVD (featuring gorgeous cover art and interiors by Mike Mignola).

The criterion also includes Del Toro's short film Geometria, which was a real treat to watch on a big screen and features a lot of the ideas and elements that he implements into his movies today.

Del Toro spoke about learning & growing in an art medium (for any artist) by making mistakes and borrowing inspiration from others. He also spoke of his early influences of Mario Bava and Dario Argento (who inspired him heavily on color palettes and lighting of scenes) films.

All in all it was an amazing night with a super inspirational & bigger than life human being, who speaks from his heart, and makes the work he wants to make regardless of what anyone thinks.

So the cartoon show I've been working on the last five months (Adventure Time) premieres this Monday, April 5th (8pm). With all the hype and excitement I wanted to share this awesome page I found while navigating through facebook. If you type in "adventure time" on facebook, there are now several groups advertising the show before it has even premiered! To my surprise one of the groups made a photo album on all the Autumn Society Adventure Time tributes. Whoever created the page, thank-you for your support!
