Hey there. Here's my contribution to Pee-Wee. I must say that I don't have a fantastic memory for things that happened prior to about 2 or 3 years ago, but I clearly remember sitting in a completely packed theater on opening night of Pee-wee's Big Adventure (1985). The audience cheered and laughed so hard at every joke that night that a second viewing was required to absorb all the plot intricacies and existential humour ("I know you are, but what am I?") that shaped this work of genius.

“Carebear Carnage”, which I created for the Autumn Society’s 80s Pop! Show, has been selected to appear in American Illustration 29, which will be released in November of this year at the annual AI-AP party in NYC.

Autumn Society's 80s Pop Show in Brazil!!!!

The amazing Brazilian Illustrator Carlos Araujo just e-mailed me that the popular Brazilian website "Universo HQ" has written a nice write up on our 80s Pop Show!

And here is a quick translation by Carlos:

"Thundercats, Ninja Turtles, Uncle Scrooge (Ducktales) and other characters from comics, animation, games are the stars of an exhibition of paintings and drawings of the Autumn Society, a group of artists from the United States.
The exhibition debut today in Philadelphia.
Those outside U.S. can visit the blog of AS and take a look at some of the works where the artists lend their personal views on some of the icons that marked the childhood or adolescence of many fans."

80's Pop Show Opening

Hey guys, I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who submitted work to the show and for all of those who helped make our show another great success. This show had an even better turn out than our last ones and I can tell this trend will continue with every show following. With nearly 70 pieces in this show, I know we will only get bigger and better from this point on and personally am looking forward to seeing more of the awesome contributions in the future.

The Autumn Society

Established in September of 2006, the Autumn Society is a group of artists that started in Philadelphia and is now expanding worldwide. From Illustrators, Designers, Photographers, Filmmakers, Animators, Musicians, and other art mediums, the Autumn Society offers a wide array of styles and imagination to the world.

Besides showcasing their work daily on their blog (theautumnsociety.blogspot.com) and in galleries, the Autumn Society also makes appearances at Comic Conventions and other related expos, offering zines, prints, and other exclusive media that makes the group so original and unique.

80's Pop Show!

The 80s POP Show! is a collection of artwork inspired by movies, cartoons, and video games from the amazing and imaginative era of the 1980s. From Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, Mario Bros, and many others, this show is bound to delight and spark great memories from this magical time, filled with memorabilia, long haired superheroes, and candy colored good times.

This is the Autumn Society’s third official gallery show. Thanks to the awesome people at Brave New Worlds Comics, this is also the Autumn Society’s second show with them. Please join us at the premiere on Friday, June 5th, starting at 6pm. The show will feature 50+ pieces of artwork and a visit from Philly’s Ghostbusters!

hey all!

been a bit busy over here, so much so that i completely forgot and missed out on the 80's show hanging. but heres my piece i did for it anyways, its a super dream band of teen wolf, mr. t, and e.t.
here is an excerpt from a new comic i just finished up about my friends band amazing/wow.
also this weekend ill be attending mocca-con with my new book 'bootlegs'. it features bootlegged versions of spider-man, x-men, batman, ghost rider vs. aquaman, and daredevil punisher team-up.

Though it's being posted a little late, here's my piece for the 80's show, "E.T." I was terrified of the movie E. T. when I was younger so it's kind of ironic that I chose to do this, but I really had fun drawing him. Can't wait to see the show Friday!

You may know by now- I lost my large version of The Golden Girls forever... I was all set for the 80's themed show and I overwrote the large file. But still having a small version of it, I decided to incorporate it into a new piece. So here's what I think Alf is up to today, he's getting old but still as much fun!

The Most Convenient Definitions

Hello! I'm Rae Winters - I'm a freelance photographer and I've been a member of the Autumn Society for a few months now. This is my first post on the blog, and I wanted to put up my piece for the 80s show. I'm a horror movie fanatic, so I originally wanted to do something with John Carpenter or some other 80s classic (and I'm so glad others have done that!), but in the end I went to the opposite end of the spectrum and chose The Breakfast Club. The collage may look a bit off here - it was too large for me to scan so I had to take a photo of the finished product, but hopefully you still get the idea of what I was going for. Hope you enjoy it!
