Evil Dead

TODD SPENCE

Created for the "Righteous Rides" show in LA, opening May 3rd!  (By hand, using watercolor, inks and some acrylics)

Greaser From the Booze Lagoon 1:1 taxidermied head

One of the life sized taxidermied heads I made for the Cig Neutron series. I'm doing a limited edition run of 20 of these available HERE You can't tell from the photo but it's much larger than a human head. Basically the story is Cig Neutron wants to be the most aweful thing in the universe so he travels the cosmos hunting down the most Notorious beings, and takes their heads to ensure that nothing can be more deplorable than him. You can read more about The Greaser and Cig Neutron in our psychotronic coffeetable book Bizarro Au Go-Go HERE

New messes.

Here are a few new/old new personal pieces. They fit together, like a running narrative. I'll save that explanation for when the rest are done. All were done with my usual mix: acrylic, pencil, ink, crayon, colored pencil, accidental blood. You are excused.

Add preservatives over at the crap-bq*

INSIDE LOOK: FRIGHT RAGS

T-shirts have constantly been a form of visual media and a way to represent ourselves or even to showcase our own art. Take for example this amazing Zombie vs Shark shirt design by Fright Rags.

Fright Rags is a t-shirt company that tribute the Horror Film genre. But how do you get this awesome design onto a T-shirt, you ask?

Well on their blog, Fright Rags has featured some amazing in depth STEP-BY-STEP processes that I think will inspire any artist or entrepreneur that wants to get into designing & printing t-shirts.

It all starts with the EARLY SKETCHES STAGE, followed by the COMPLETED ILLUSTRATON STAGE.

But the best part of all these step-by-step features are the videos! Check them out!

Video Game Gore Horror Movies!

Finally got the chance to post my second and third pieces for the video game gore show. Two more famous horror scenes with some fun mario twists. They are layered pieces for some 3d effects.

These were really fun to make. I stopped by the show yesterday and it was awesome. Great work, can't wait for the next! (I also tried to stop by proximity to see everyone's pieces during gallery hours but it was closed for some reason, but i love what i've seen on the blog!)

Video Game Gore!

Here's my piece for Video Game Gore show!

At first I was leaning towards something based on Silent Hill since it was the first horror video game I ever played (and genuinely scared me when I was a kid,) but once I had the idea for a Luigi's Mansion piece I knew I had to go with it, if for no other reason than it seemed like a really unexpected choice. You don't really think of a Mario game when think of horror, and this game in particular was pretty offbeat and received little fanfare. I loved it, but then again I have a weird fondness for secondary characters.

There's some Super Mario World ghost house flavor thrown in as well, just because I liked the idea of using the P switch. The Princess was added to fill the role of obligatory horror movie heroine and give it more of a movie poster feel.

BRAINVADERS from Outer space!! (Iron Giant 10th year Anniversary)

Ten Years ago from last friday (Aug 6)
, the Incredible (before the Incredibles)
movie, the IRON GIANT was released.

Although It didnt make money, (due to lame marketing),
the Movie is a masterpiece.
So I decided to do this "spin off".
If you have seen the movie You will inmediately know
where this is from.

(I made up the name of the Sci-fi Horror film ,since they didn't have one for it ,
At least not that I know of...)

Comic News: B.P.R.D 1947

Straight from the Dark Horse website.

"In 1946, the Nazi Occult Bureau's Project Vampir Sturm threatened to destroy the fragile peace following the end of the Second World War. A year later, the B.P.R.D. learns that there are creatures far older -- and far more dangerous -- than the Nazis' creations, as a lone vampire nobleman ruthlessly hunts the survivors of the Third Reich.

Joshua Dysart (B.P.R.D.: 1946) and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola team up with Gabriel Bá (The Umbrella Academy) and Fábio Moon (Sugarshock) for a new chapter in the hidden history of the B.P.R.D.!

* A direct sequel to the critically acclaimed B.P.R.D.: 1946!

* Art by Eisner Award winners Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá!

A chilling old-world vampire tale!

Publication Date: July 08, 2009"

GOBSTOPPER

In the age where Faux trailers are all the new rage, this one is worth mentioning and showing. What if Willy Wonka was made into a horror movie?....the result is this.
