Mars Canyons with Captain Future!
Hi, I am a new member to this here site, so here is my first post!
I finished an image last night for Planet Pulp. The theme was 'fictional travel posters', so I did one based on the comic character Captain Future. This image imagines he is now semi retired and promoting tour holidays around the solar system.
Hope you like it! If you do then please check out my blog at jamesgilleard.blogspot.com

Mars Book Coloring Pages (Chogrin)
Hey everyone,
Above are my coloring pages for the Autumn Society's "Exploring Mars" coloring book. This has been a wonderful opportunity and project to work and assemble.
It's kind of funny how this got started with a very basic illustration / animation I did back in 2008, due to my interest of the red planet and its future. (Above is a paint by number page based on my original Illustration from 2008.)
Another inspiring factor at the time was Peter Wonsowski's haunting & inspiring Ambassador Etc. music! (Thank-you Peter!)
One thing led to another and I was contacted by the Mars Society because of my basic illustration / animation of Mars, and now this coloring book is the result.
As an illustrator and President of this group, I hope we can achieve and produce more projects like this in the future.

AUTUMN SOCIETY + MARS SOCIETY = EXPLORING MARS COLORING BOOK
The Autumn Society and The Mars Society (affiliated with NASA) have joined forces to present "Exploring Mars," a children's coloring book featuring our neighbor planet & possible future home MARS.
Shown above is the vivid cover Illustration of the book by the super talented, Bobby O'herlihy (cynicwithapencil.blogspot.com). Along with this being the book's cover, prints of this will also be available soon.
Inside the book are interactive & fun coloring book Illustrations by Autumn Society members and their different views of humans exploring and Terraforming Mars.
With this book, we hope to inspire a new generation of children to reach higher for the heavens and bring a new frontier of space exploration starting with Mars!

Needless to say, we are very proud of this project and with the collaboration of the Autumn Society, Dr. Robert Zubrin, and his team, the Mars Society.
More details coming soon....
Taking the Dog for a Walk in Mars

Stingray Sam
I was gaffer on a movie that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year. It'll be playing in Brooklyn on June 6, if anyone here likes heading to NY. It's a really great movie.
Here's the synopsis from http://www.stingraysam.com/:
A dangerous mission reunites STINGRAY SAM with his long lost accomplice, The Quasar Kid. Follow these two space-convicts as they earn their freedom in exchange for the rescue of a young girl who is being held captive by the genetically designed figurehead of a very wealthy planet. This musical space-western miniseries is designed for small screens and perfect for screens of all sizes.
And here's the teaser-trailer:
SHOWING:
Brooklyn Technical High School
29 Fort Greene Place (Fort Greene, Brooklyn)
June 6, 2009
8:00PM: Doors Open
8:30PM: Live Music
9:00PM: Screening Begins
It's really great and worth checking out, if you can. It's been getting great reviews.
Thanks!

*To Mars*
A month or two ago I did a quick Illustration inspired by my feelings, or opinion I should say, about human kind's exploration of Mars. A lot of it came from reading many books by Robert Zubrin, specifically, The Case for Mars, which contains a beautiful quote by Italian Philosopher Giordano Bruno. And so inspired by these great ideas and dreams of someday terraforming Mars and making it our second home, I made a short video, using my Illustration and the beautiful track, "108 the boat", by the amazing Ambassador Etc. Our Space program has been on hold for almost 30 years. Our last steps on the moon were in 1972. As a generation I feel, we should aim for more and achieve almost anything as many aspired to do much strongly decades ago. Anyways I just wanted to share this with you, for I feel it is important for us, our future, and our survival. With our art and visions we could inspire ourselves & other future generations to go beyond anything we could imagine.
