Stingray Sam

I was gaffer on a movie that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year. It'll be playing in Brooklyn on June 6, if anyone here likes heading to NY. It's a really great movie.

Here's the synopsis from http://www.stingraysam.com/:

A dangerous mission reunites STINGRAY SAM with his long lost accomplice, The Quasar Kid. Follow these two space-convicts as they earn their freedom in exchange for the rescue of a young girl who is being held captive by the genetically designed figurehead of a very wealthy planet. This musical space-western miniseries is designed for small screens and perfect for screens of all sizes.

And here's the teaser-trailer:

SHOWING:
Brooklyn Technical High School
29 Fort Greene Place (Fort Greene, Brooklyn)
June 6, 2009
8:00PM: Doors Open
8:30PM: Live Music
9:00PM: Screening Begins

It's really great and worth checking out, if you can. It's been getting great reviews.

Thanks!

TZIMTZUM

Here's a short I made, called Tzimtzum. I made this when I first got my HVX(though this is shot in DV not HD). My roommates and I put it together to test out how the camera worked and to have some fun.

THIS LIFE - EPISODE 2

Another simplistic animation playing with social interaction. Though Episode One is not necessary for viewing Episode 2, it can be fun just to see the two of them, to get an idea of what I'm doing. Whatever that is, ha.

Animation

Heya. I made this animation as my senior thesis project in college. I majored in Film and Media Arts at Temple University and they didn't have an animation course, but they allowed me to receive a final production credit and attend the Senior Projects Class as I taught myself animation. I drew 2600 frames by hand and, for the ones with color, colored them in with colored pencils. Four days before the project was due I wasn't finished and a friend and I slept 2-3 hours a night, as I finished the drawings, and he photographed them one by one. It was finished the night before it was due.

Primarily, I do live action movies now, but I still have a love for animation and have some ideas for some in the future.

THIS LIFE - Episode One

Here's a series I started a little while ago, it's just for fun. Prepare for simplistic animation.

Hoot!

Here's an owl I made.

I didn't find a good dead-on owl picture for the pose I wanted, so I drew this referencing about four different pictures. This may mean that this 'breed' of owl does not, in actuality, exist. Are you comfortable with that? (that's not a real question...I mean, unless you aren't. Which would be mildly strange, or perhaps make you an owl connoisseur. And if you are, let's talk about that, because owls are definitely pretty neat).

New to You

Hey. I'm a Brooklyn filmmaker. I've just joined this blog. I shall contribute my first item, this is a short animation I made called "HOW WE TRY.". I figure it's a good introduction of myself to a blog of mostly illustrators...

Thanks for watching!
