Brian Ewing is one of the most prolific, iconic image-makers in rock music and pop art. Like his heroes and mentors—Frank Kozik, Coop, and Tara McPherson, among others—he has built his success in poster art into a career that spans illustration, album covers, original art prints, skate decks, and shirt designs. Informed by art nouveau, ukiyo-e woodblock printing, SoCal “kustom” car culture, and the comics, Ewing’s work fuses his explorations of perspective, color, and space with classic imagery from American youth culture. His clients have ranged from Metallica and the Warped Tour to the Strokes and Death Cab for Cutie (not to mention The New Yorker and a number of advertising agencies).
Currently a resident of New York City, Ewing attended the American Academy of Art Chicago for Illustration and the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design for Fine Arts. His first monograph, Don’t Hold Your Breath: The Art of Brian Ewing, was published by Dark Horse in 2010.

Bag it...

Acrylic on canvas 48" x 30"

Hi my name is Mark Harrison and I'm an illustrator from the UK. This is my first post on the Autumn Society.

Cops eat donuts... I suspect its movie cop cliche but its great fun to paint. This took 5 months of evenings and stems from my love of 80s movies and retro video games.

What Are These Strings For?

I proudly present my Steven Wright piece in the upcoming Gallery 1988 show: IS THIS THING ON? 2: The Weird Year. Weir Al is hosting? Awesome

Check out more at the paint palace pit.

Conan O' Brien "Be Cool My Babies!"

My next piece for the upcoming Gallery 1988 Is This Thing On? 2 show. A celebration to stand up comedians with  special emcee that evening, Weird Al Yankovic. I couldn't be more thrilled with the release of this new print.
I have religiously DVR'd and watched every episode of Conan O'Brien for something close to 8 years now.
I thought it might be fun to do a piece for this show that touched on his recent Banned From TV Comedy Tour without actually calling it out like that. I hope Conan finds I captured his paleness to perfection.

Opening Night – Friday, March 9th at 7 PM (323) 937-7088
11" x 17" Giclee Print on Archival Watercolor Paper
Printed with Archival Vinyl Inks
Limited Edition Prints (40) thru gallery, Artist's Proofs thru me.

The Werewolf of NYC

Working hard on 'The Werewolf of NYC' - images soon - looking like it may be an ongoing self published series.

The Lion Tamer

For the Eat Your Art Out V charity art auction, in Los Angeles, the theme being an eerie, early 1900s Carnival. I was inspired by all of the vintage photos from the era, which depicted cherub-faced women in ferocious situations!

NEW Mukpuddy Music Vid...

So here's what we've been working on for the first part of this year it's our 2nd collaboration with our buddy Caspar Babypants, we've always wanted to have a go at making something in the old 1920's "rubber hose" style so we we're stoked when we finally got the chance. Hope you (and your kids... if you've got 'em) enjoy the heck out of it coz we had heaps of fun making it...

Jeremy Lin

The instant success of Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin inspired a quick illustration in his honor. I only hope the term "linsanity" goes away REALLY soon!

Eat Your Art Out V

Eat Your Art Out V

Theme:
1900’s traveling carnival. Inspired by the ethereal creepiness of this early American tradition, all artwork will depict this darkly styled atmosphere and reflect the curios and wonders one would expect to see during that era.

Zelda/Lotus Gig Poster

Here's the recent gig poster i did for the band lotus. Apparently, they often play a rendition of the Zelda theme song at the end of their shows. So naturally they asked me to do a Zelda themed gig poster. This project had three notable milestones for me. Firstly, it's the biggest print I've ever made. Secondly, its the most printing I've ever done for a single project (200 prints x 3 colors, YIKES)! And lastly, every aspect of this project was done in house (as in, IN my house). I built an exposure unit, bought a power washer and built myself a dark room in my basement. Surprisingly everything worked out great and I'm very happy with the prints.

These prints will be on sale February 17th during their show at the Congress Theatre in Chicago, IL.

Sonic Vs Robotnik

The piece is created for Geek-Art's 'Final Round' video game show at the 'Made in Asia' convention. 30th-31st March and 1st of April 2012 @ Palais des Expositions of Bruxelles.

I've been experimenting with 'HyperCam' to record me making one of my digital prints. The settings must be bung because the quality is a bit shit but you get the idea... also it's a touch too long so feel free to skip through...

Illustration Workshop

So I was invited to give an illustration and character  design workshop this March in Mexico City and this is the poster I did. :)

G is for Gizmo!

The latest in my ABC series...
So if your air conditioner goes on the fritz or your washing machine blows up or your video recorder conks out. Before you call the repairman, turn on all the lights, check all the closets and cupboards, look under all the beds. 'Cause you never can tell there just might be a gremlin in your house."
