Without You

Along with redoing my website again, I've been working on this painting for an art contest for the past month. The contest is based on the 7 deadly sins. The one I chose as a theme is lust. The quote is based on a song by a portuguese singer. Hope yall like it.

"el condor pasa"

It's strange how much music and painting can be connected to me sometimes. I find that I get much inspiration for my work from songs i listen to on my itunes.

This new painting i just completed is inspired by the simon and garfunkel song "el condor pasa." here's the song below.

keeping busy

I haven't been such a diligent blogger in the past month due to the amount of work I've been trying to get done for my solo show with TrickGo Clothing, which will be on December 11th.

I hand cut and painted these letters to make a customized sign for the window of the gallery at 12th and Pine. Below are some pieces I will have for sale at the opening.

This little guy below is a new diy munny I will be painting. The purple is just the base coat.

This is the t shirt design that I did for the show, which will be printed on v neck american apparel shirts in the same warm grey color as the background.

I will post the official flyer for the show when it's ready.

my childhood home

Here's a new piece I just completed, for a solo show I have coming up with Trickgo. This is a portrait of the house I grew up in, in East Falls. The type and everything else is painted in acrylic. (on canvas). I lived in this house until I was thirteen, my parents planted all the trees and shrubs on the property from seedlings.

Custom Toy Show this First Friday!

Hey guys! I will have a piece in this show, along with a few other artists, and the star of the show (fellow ASOP member) Nose G! I've been itching to paint his custom toy for awhile, and I am excited to see what other people have done. Below is my entry for the show. Front and back view.

Queen of the Dead

Here's my entry for the show. When researching the holiday, the idea of doing a portrait of the goddess Mictecacihuatl seemed fun. To the Aztec people she was the queen of the underworld, and oversees what has now become the modern Dia de los Muertos festivities.

My Ode to Summer

I feel like most people who live in Philly can connect with this. Driving to Wildwood, Sea Isle, Island Beach, wherever! Traveling "down the shore" to New Jersey during the summer is always a welcome escape from the bustle of the city. I wanted to make a painting about Jersey so here it is. Happy last few weeks of summer everyone.
Below is the color study that I did for the piece. Color studies are nice, but seeing the changes and decision-making that happen once you get to the final touches of the painting is even nicer.

Pattern Design

Hey guys I know you've all been posting for the 8bit show alot, but here's something completely unrelated. I just finished this new pattern for mcjawn.com's blog. I had alot of fun with this one.
I painted two images then digitally combined it so it would grid smoothly.

Here's a screen shot of it on the site = ).
