Video Game Gore

Hi ASOP,

It's my great pleasure to be contributing to the upcoming show, VIDEO GAME GORE, at Brave New Worlds in Philly. I will be showing two pieces inspired by one of my favorite games of all time: Bioshock.

Here is my first completed piece: "My Youth, My Rose"

This piece is 9" x 12". It features a favorite quote of mine from the game, as well as the latin translation for little sister. This was inspired by a scene where a splicer is found weeping and crying out standing over a baby's carriage, that we later discover to be empty aside from a revolver.

This show promises to be majorly kick ass. I hope to see you all at the release on Friday, Oct. 1st., from 6-8PM at Brave New Worlds.

In other news I've recently revamped my website, and created a Facebook page: JSinquett Illustration on FB

Thanks guys, see ya soon!

LUPIN MUGS

Hey guys,

The work above are my contributions to the 'Turning Japanese' show this past Friday at Brave New Worlds Comics in Philly. They're tributes to one of the best, long-lasting, and funny Japanese franchises of all time, Lupin the 3rd. It was an awesome show to say the least. I was absolutely floored by the range of work on display.

Hope to catch some of you at future shows.

"Turning Japanese" Preview 2.0

This is probably the best put together show at BNW since "Golden Age of Comics and Animation" show last summer. Quality pictures across the wall. Thanks every one.

Special Thanks to the Autumn Society and Brave New Worlds

I am very pleased to be participating in the Turning Japanese exhibition. The poster for the show by Dave Perillo is outstanding! What a cool concept for a show. The two images above are two of the works I submitted. I've been doing pop art pieces for a number of years and there aren't a lot of galleries that show contemporary pop art. Great job to all involved and what a wonderful thing you do for the city of Philadelphia. The talent in this show is amazing and I am honored to be part of it.

Well, I did it. I cannot believe that the the show opens tomorrow. Many an early morning and late night's work has finally come to fruition. 23 pieces. 6 months of studio time, the last 3 months having little contact with the outside world - at least it felt that way! (Summer? What summer?)

I went down to help Janel, the owner of Proximity Gallery, hang the show last night. I don't want to brag, but it looks friggin' AWESOME. I'm so happy with the outcome. I cannot wait to share it with you all. Thanks to my wonderful husband,Brian, who is always a great supporter of my work. Thanks putting up with all of my late nights and weekend working and for your feedback, suggestions and help. Thanks to Russell Underwood Photography for shooting the work! You did a bang up job! Thanks to PRIMER for helping me out with the printing. Thanks to my family for their support and thanks to City Paper and the Philadephia Weekly for the great write ups!

After Friday, I will be posting photos on my own blog from the opening, as well as jpegs of each piece so that all of my friends in far away places can enjoy. And the rest of you? I hope to see you all tomorrow!
