THIS IS OUR TIME NOW (GOONIES RE-SUBMITTED & REMEMBERED)

As much as I am excited for our upcoming SHELL-SHOCK show, I'm also very excited for our Goonies, THIS IS OUR TIME NOW show at LUNAR BOY GALLERY in Astoria, OR. To me this is the ultimate Goonies art gallery & tribute experience, since Astoria is the town where Goonies was filmed (1984-1985), not to mention that the town folk love and promote the Goonies all year long! What more can you ask for?

I wanted to re-share with you my Goonies (8 arms to hold you) piece above from Crazy For Cult 4 @ Gallery 1988. A lot of the pieces for this upcoming show will be re-submissions from our 3G Show, but also expect some new ones from new artists that have joined our ship in the last year.

June is sure to be a hit month for us with TMNT & Goonies going back to back in completely different coasts, we can't lose! Below are some pictures of my Goonies pilgrimage I made last year in Astoria & Cannon Beach, OR. Oregon has a lot to offer and I definitely plan on going back! I recommend the trip to Astoria to any Goonies fan, you won't regret it!

MY TURN TO WIN

Hey guys,
I once again had the privilege to work with the awesome Philly/Jersey hardcore band MY TURN TO WIN. If you are into hardcore, you probably know who they are and if you don't, you should. Great band. Great people. Also, they wanted an giant octopus battling a giant robot on the cover! How could I say no?

MINESPIRE

I was recently approached by a great new start up company named Minespire. They are a shared profit business, making a positive difference with every product sold. Through this, human rights, animal rights and environmental organizations are able to get closer to their goals.

Minespire is working with different artists to develop shirt designs that tell a story about a cause. Each artist will have a page where you can read about them and the work that they do. I was asked to create a t-shirt design to support environmental causes. Although environmental issues have been going on for a long time, the BP spill is fresh in everyone's mind. I came up with several concepts for this and the Angry Octopus was born.

The official Minespire launch is set for this fall, and the website and store is a work in progress. But please check out their site and follow their Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages. Spread the word and help a great cause!

Eight Arms To Hold You...

This is my piece for Gallery 1988's upcoming Crazy 4 Cult show in LA. I wanted to pay tribute to one of my all time favorite movies from 1985, the Goonies. Above you will find your favorites like Mikey, Data, Chunk, and Mouth. I also wanted to reference a deleted scene from the movie involving an octopus... All in all, I hope its good enough....

The show premiere will Friday night, hosted by Kevin Smith. Show coverage & video coming soon! Click on the postcard below for more info:

Something New

The Wreck, 4.25x7.5, ink on Rives BFK

Hey All. Firstly, thank you to everyone who made it out to Shane and my opening on Friday- it meant a lot to see so many of you cool kids come out to the show.

The above is the last piece I made for the show, and it's something new I've been trying out with going a little more traditional using just ink and a brush. I can't remember what it was that made me want to try my hand at this kind of drawing, but I've been in love with people who work in a similar fashion: Paul Pope, Jeff Smith, Charles Burns, etc. So when I stopped at an art store to get a new table, I threw in some brushes and a nice little green bottle of black ink. Hope you guys enjoy, and for those of you that missed the opening the show at Chapterhouse should be up until (I believe..) September 10th. Thanks!

It Flew at Sunset, 14.5x19.5, pencil/ink/digital
Update: Here's the piece I posted a sketch for below.

Gemini

I had a concept for this for class, but it's not important. It had something to do with people marrying young and divorcing. In the end, I think this was just a big old vent piece for me. Now, it just makes me think of Gemini, which is my sign.

Missing Hawai'i muchly in this piece. I miss ocean!!!!
